Pet Jump Quest Bug?

Afternoon everyone. It seems today is not the day for me at all, which is normal on maple apparently. Since creating the pets from the beefy kitchen, I wanted to equip 2 of them just because they are handy to have around. Now, after buying the pet snack, I talked with the henesys pet instructor and the quest was to be turned in. (The book appeared). Afterwards, he says give it to me, "the pet snack", and nothing else happened, the book for completion was still there, and that was that. Now, I'm a bit frustrated because of earlier events, but this takes the cake. So I completed his other quest called, "reviving your pet", did nothing as well. Am I missing something here? Or are the pets from the beefy kitchen not able to do this quest? I could complain about how this game has had 10 years to fix the big stuff, but eh, I dont want to jump to conclusions.
