Recommendations for La

Visiting LA soon (from June 23rd to June 27th). Any recommendations as to what to do while I'm there? Keep in mind that I'm from NYC, so I already have In-n-Out marked off, haha.

If you're from NYC, California is going to be crap.

You've been warned.

There's alot of nice places to hang out around Downtown.
You can also go over to the fashion district and shop at the alleys.
The beaches you should go to is Huntington Beach or others. (Don't go to Santa Monica or Venice if your going to swim, its dirty)
The Grove is a nice place to hang out near Hollywood. It's near 3rd and Fairfax.
You should try checking out the shops in Melrose too, lots of nice stuff to buy.
Hope it helps and enjoy your stay in LA

Well, there's disneyland, knott's berry farm, universal studios/city walk, and six flags all not far from downtown LA (1 hour, 30 minutes tops). Although a theme park in June might not be the best idea with the crowds + the heat. Aside from that, musuems (like the Getty Museum, Science Center, La Brea Tarpits, Griffith Observatory, etc.), stadiums, and landmarks in hollywood, there's not much out here that you couldn't already do in NYC.

Counting stuff to do in general, not just ones that aren't in NYC, there's also lots of movie theaters, bowling alleys, a few go kart places (the closest one to LA, IIRC, is Go Kart World in Carson). I'd say mini golf too, but all the good ones keep closing down (Malibu Castle and the glow in the dark mini golf place).

Oh and the beaches are interesting to say the least. You can go to the Santa Monica Pier or look at all the performers at Venice Beach. I like to rent bikes and ride back and forth along the bike trail between Marina Del Rey and Will Rogers State Beach (just past Santa Monica). It's a nice little ride if you manage to catch a time of day where there aren't tons of joggers/walkers getting in the way.

Go to an Angels game, Dodgers game, or Disneyland. Oh and if you like hockey dont wear any Rangers apparel cause LA Kings fans have gotten very violent towards fans of the team that are playing right now, its like Oakland Raider fans.
