Who owns the internet

I am doing a work in school. Its a text about who or witch company owns the internet. For example if WW3 arrives... One country will obviously try to take full control of the internet. So my final question is... Who rules the internet if for example World war 3 arrives? Thoughts?
There probably is one for networks shared across countries but with the limitations of distance traveled by cables, cost of installation and economy of countries tied alongside with restrictions imposed by countries due to rivalry or whatever, having one big button is the same as saying, my country controls the world and that would lead to an imbalance everywhere lol.

I'd imagine there are many big buttons, one for each union of country if that were the case, like america could have its own button located in california or washington for all 52 (?) states and so forth. We at this day and age are not at the stage where power is going to be so willingly handed to one leader/ government,

Taking your example into consideration, if WW3 arrived, resources would be shared and therefore there could be a temporary alliance where either the two countries that started the war get such control power on each side or for each side the participant with most power gets full control.

All in all, it's a complex matter but best step to take now is do research and get factual information rather than opinionated.
Thanks alot dude
