If I were to use a fusion anvil on an item and then use the transfer hammer, will the anvil stay? or will I have the new weapon look instead?

If I were to use a fusion anvil on an item and then use the transfer hammer, will the anvil stay? or will I have the new weapon look instead?

It keeps the appearance of the higher level equip.
