Bluescreen error for Vaio?

Hey Basilers, recently there's been this bluescreen error on my sister's laptop:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The verification of a knownDLL failed. system process terminated unexpectedly wi
th a status of 0xc0000221 (0x05e19e40 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

Can anyone please explain/help me resolve this?

The charatcer-based menu doesn't even show up... It just gives me two options:

Launch Startup Repair (Which, of course, doesn't resolve much)
&
Start Windows normally (Which leads to the bluescreen...)

But thanks for trying, appreciate it!

There is a chance that booting into "Last known good configuration" may resolve the problem once and for all. Otherwise, the least troublesome way to resolve this error is to reinstall Windows as this problem is caused by accidental corruption during a user session.

Documentation for the error you have presented is as follows:

Cause
"This error occurs when a user-mode subsystem, such as WinLogon or the Client Server Run-Time Subsystem (CSRSS), has been fatally compromised and security can no longer be guaranteed. In response, the operating system switches to kernel mode. Microsoft Windows cannot run without WinLogon or CSRSS. Therefore, this is one of the few cases where the failure of a user-mode service can shut down the system.

Mismatched system files can also cause this error. This can occur if you have restored your hard disk from a backup. Some backup programs might skip restoring system files that they determine are in use."

Resolving the Problem
...
"If the error occurs during system startup, restart your computer, and press F8 at the character-based menu that displays the operating system choices. At the resulting WindowsAdvanced Options menu, choose the Last Known Good Configuration option. This option is most effective when only one driver or service is added at a time."
...
blah blah reformat/reinstall if that fails.
