Actually, the hammers do work on the 170 weapons. My friend and I merely used them before the weapon had 0 slots left, and it worked just fine. I'm thankful it did, as I had learned about the glitch too late unfortunately.

Thanks for letting me know this before i messed up. I got lucky and both 50% hammers worked in the first try, and after that 2 primes worked in 3 tries so i'm pretty happy

starring is the problem
the amount of att you gain on starring is dependent on your weapon's current att
for example, at 4 to 5 star, your weapon is sitting at 199 att, then you would only get 4 att, which means 152 at 5th star
but if you star it as a lv170, and say you get to 260 att at 4 star, then from 4star to 5star you would get 6 att

so you can scroll your weapon right now, just remember dont star it until it gets to lv170, otherwise you will permanently lose some att status

All you need to remember is to, MAKE SURE you get your 2 Hammered Slots opened before evolving your weapon to lvl 170, as you hit lvl 170 there is a glitch where Hammers do NOT work on them !

You can start perfecting it and transfer the stats over whenever you evolve the weapon. But, in case you fail slots or something you can always reset the weapon stats (not including potential) every evolution.
