Because it's the way Nexon is. They tell us the game will be at sometime and then at that time "Hey guys we so srry but game not b up like said".
I'd rather them just take the game down and not tell us it's for an update but just tell us its an unscheduled maintenance. I think that the waiting wouldn't be so bad if we didn't know it was an update (although we could guess it is but still, we wouldn't know for sure)

[Update 4:00 PM] We are working on the fixes for the previously mentioned bugs. We will also be blocking Root Abyss temporarily while we work on a fix for a bug with it that causes a channel crash.
[Update 1:30 PM] We are also currently looking into a bug that caused some accounts to be tradeblocked during the update.
[Update 12:25 PM] We are currently working to fix a login bug with the merged worlds.
[Update 10:16 AM] We've been experiencing errors while building the client patchers. Our engineers are working to fix these issues.

Maple is always down for an ungodly amount of time during big patches. Usually followed by unscheduled server checks anyways.
