From Nexon, how to fix disconnections during bossing.

This thread is meant to help those who often get disconnected when attempting to boss, such as Zakum, Papulatus, Scarlion/Targa and includes CWKPQ.

I sent Nexon a ticket, addressing the widely known issue of disconnection while bossing. It took them several weeks to reply to my ticket, but they eventually sent me a list of possible solutions to fix the issue.

NOTE: Not gauranteed to fix your issue. Some parts of the words/sentences also seem to be replaced with unsual characters.

So this is what Nexon exactly said:
I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing difficulties with running MapleStory. Here are a few suggestions that might resolve your issue.

1) Close any extra applications before starting the game as they may interfere with our game clients. If you do not feel comfortable turning off your firewall or antivirus, we suggest configuring them appropriately to allow the game client to run.

2) Run a Virus/Spyware scan on your system to make sure that it is clean. Malicious programs can interfere with the game and compromise the security of your account.

3) Please make sure that you have DirectX 9.0c or better and that your video card drivers are up to date. More information about direct can be found in our "Game Download” section at Nexon.net
For nVidia video card drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
For ATI video card drivers: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

4) Please make sure that Windows is configured to allow the execution of the game client. To verify this, click on your Start menu, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance (if applicable) and then double click on System. Select the Advanced tab and click settings in the performance section. Once there, select the Data Execution Prevention tab and make sure that the game client is added if the second option is selected. Also make sure to click Apply and Ok if you make any changes.

5) If all of the above solutions do not resolve the issue, I suggest that you re-download the game client and then reinstall it.

Please make sure to use the "Add/Remove Programs” when deleting the game. Also select "Delete Files” by opening up Internet Explorer going to the "Tools” option and into `Internet options” There, go to the "General” tab, and then find the "Temporary Internet files” (should be close to the browsing history) and select "Delete files” Once it is clear, try to download the game again.

For best results, I recommend that you delete the folder the game is in and any other related files or icons before you reinstall the game. You can download the game client from our "Game Download” Section at www.nexon.net/

Make sure that you are using an updated version of Internet Explorer, it is a known issue that other browsers may have conflicting issues with our website. Also, make sure that you are downloading the client from the official Nexon.net website.

For MapleStory you might also try:

A) If you have problems with the patcher, we suggest downloading our manual patcher from our "Game Download” section at http://maplestory.nexon.net/

B) If all you see is a black screen or you get disconnected every time you enter the game, browse to your MapleStory folder and run the "Setup.exe”. You will be prompted with a question. Click NO and the setup will run through various frequencies and attempt to find one that works for your monitor. When you see the MapleStory image during the test, press ALT-H to notify the setup that you are able to see it. Outdated video drivers can also cause this; refer to #3.

C) If you have Windows Vista / Windows 7, right click on your MapleStory icon (not the desktop shortcut) and select properties. Once in the properties, click on the compatibility tab, check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:” select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the drop down menu and click Apply. For best results, make sure to log on your computer as an administrator.

If that does not work, then when your computer prompts you with a message saying that MapleStory and the Windows 7 operating system have some known compatibility issues, you are given the choice to "look for solutions online” or "run program”. Click "run program”, and this should allow you to play MapleStory with no further issues. While this solution will help MapleStory function under Windows Vista/ Windows 7, please remember that it is still not fully compatible.

If these tips don’t help you please submit more information about your system and character and server he/she is on, and any error messages you got. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. Have a nice day.

Sincerely,

GM Sulyth
