What do you like about your art What dont you like Since there's already a thread about what aspects of our art we want to improve on, I thought it would be nice to just let ourselves analyze and profile our strengths and weaknesses. I think it helps a great deal when you just sit there and absorb your own work for a bit, you really learn a lot about yourself. Also list what your strengths/weaknesses are based off what others say about your work ! Is my style hard to copy? :[ why is it different? I know this sounds weird but I'm kind of jealous how a lot of my art friends find people copying their style in random places. Of course I do understand that my style has to be appealing in the first place for a lot people to want to copy it in the first place. I mean I have seen some people try! But I can't tell they're copying me until I see their caption underneath their drawing LOLLLLL I'd also like to ask what makes my style distinct, it's kind of frustrating when people say 'oh, your stuff is unique' rather than 'you draw well' [because being unique doesn't necessarily mean it's quality so I can't take it as a compliment sometimes..] My gallery if you're wondering what my style is like

Drawing and painting tutorials from outside sources So WorkOfArt made a nifty compilation of tutorials created by basilmarket users that can be seen here I decided to organize a bunch of tutorials and walk-throughs created by non-basil users that I thought would help artists of all levels. I do not take credit for any of these. Comics vs Illustration, what do you prefer creating? I'm conflicted between devoting more time to my webcomics/newspaper comics v personal illustration works. Comics are more stressful and time consuming. (for me anyway) but when I get good feedback it's more fulfilling. There's also more audience interaction...also ..more...small job opportunities >___> Illustration is more personal and the feedback is generally more predictable. (once again disclaimer, this is just in my case) Out of curiosity, what do you all prefer drawing between the two categories? ;O

Do any you draw webcomicsand can any of you crit me gtgt I recently started up on drawing comics again [newspaper strips don't count IMO because I get like a ..5 panel limit lmao] It's called 'lotus lullaby' ->www.lotuslullaby.smackjeeves.com I was just wondering, if any of you get interested in the comic enough to follow the story as I update, could I get critiques as the comic progresses? Not just nice things, I want constructive comments! Lol stuff like paneling and narration in general is still hard for me. T_T Also, my style gets pretty obscure and I want people to keep me in check so content isn't sacrificed for stylistic preference haha. And lol if any of you use smackjeeves please tell me how to edit pre-existing comic pages T_T(

Developing your own art style I keep on seeing a lot of people fret about developing his/her own style. Honestly, I think everyone already has a style, but fretting about it impedes development. o_o For one thing, it's okay to take influence from different artists, a style is never wholly original because influence is inevitable. You should be checking out other artist's work, it's how you learn. You can copy a style, and make it your own. Sounds wrong, right? Lol in art a lot of 'wrong' things are okay. My friend used to get a lot of criticism for drawing too similarly to a huge influence of his: He was down in the dumps for a while, but he continuously worked on his art and I can safely say that although there are still similarities, toon
