Laptop not working?
Okay, so it's been working all day today, its a hp (G71-449WM) to be exact.
So when I turn it on, it goes through the boot screen, windows loading etc... then when it goes to the desktop screen it doesnt load.
Its a black screen, with a mouse cursor only, and I can cntrl+alt+delete, and start task manager etc.. but other than that thats about it.
Anyone have an idea why or what the problem could be?

I have Windows 7, BUT I did solve the problem, I was able to restore to 7 AM today and it works now.
Yeah I somehow developed this problem today as well, I couldn't get into safe mode with shift + f8. But I found a solution that may fix ur black screen cursor problem.
If you have windows 8 when you get to the screen where you type your password in to get in. Go to the power button on the right hand side and click restart, * also hold down the shift button.
It should take you to a screen where you can choose to refresh your laptop or reset to factory settings. If you refresh you won't lose any documents and folders, but you you lose all programs and things you've installed.
This fixed my black screen problem. I hope it does for you too! ^^
Was trying to not have to restore it, I mean I was gonna restore it anyways, just had to get something off of it for a friend today, seeing as I just obtained it from them today..
You should be able to restore your PC to a point in time. First I'd recommend trying to activate safe mode, then see what you can do about resetting it to an earlier point in time.

Do factory restore/reset on your laptop
Nothing happened, BUT if I browse and open google chrome... that works, but all is available is google chrome and a black screen no start button etc...
