Well, if you're interested in com sci, you had better start learning the basics of coding since you prob would be learning multiple language. I am an EE, and even I have to know c++, java, and python to a degree, so I can only imagine what a com sci student would have to go through.
My Comp Eng classes were basically assignments and figuring things out for yourself.
It can take up to 20 hours per week to finish them.
The hardest thing I remember was we were given a text full of genome sequences and having to filter out irregular patterns in order to determine legitimate facts about each case. I forgot why this was so hard though, but it was more complicated than what I typed. This was the third assignment, and classes were only about the concepts of software and not their practicality.
I know someone who graduated 2 years ago with a B.S. Comp Sci and he's making 70k a year (NY).
You need a college degree though. Most companies won't hire high school grads unless you somehow prove to them you are a genius programmer.
You'll be more than fine in comp sci
