Getting S Rank Monster level matters?

I have been trying for weeks, 10+ combinations a day to get an S with no luck. Now, sofar I have noticed that combining two of the same rank monsters gives the best chance to rank up. (B & B for B+, B+ & B+ for A, etc) But I happened to notice today, when combining monsters, it says, "For a better chance to get a high-ranked monster, Combine monsters of high ranks and levels."

This brings me to wonder, does each monster need to be a certain level to get S or SS rank? Or at least to give a decent chance to. I HAVE noticed that higher levels (say, lvl 10+ vs. a monster under lvl 10) is more likely to give me an A+ when combining A+'s.

So from now on, I'm going to pay more attention to monster levels when combining and report my findings. If anyone else is trying to get an S, please do the same! My current hypothesis is that maybe using monsters lvl 20+ will help. (since they are so hard to come by, and my highest is only 18) So let's conduct a scientific experiment!

It's fairly certain that higher levels contribute to your chances of getting an S rank, or even A+ rank monsters. Generally I find that the cutoff is somewhere between level 10-15, before your chances of making a S rank become somewhat decent. I also feel like it helps when I combine A+ with S rank monsters, instead of A+ with A+ ones. I'm not sure about SS ranks, I don't find them frequently enough, but the few I have made came from monsters level 18+.
