New Nightlord?

Coming back to Maplestory after x amount of years and I want to make a NL. Do NLs still need a crazy amount of funding to be good, and if I were to spend NX to help me get ahead a little what would be the best thing to spend it on?

*last time I played was when Big Bang just released.
