A granny merchant costs a higher rate than the mushie. For 2 weeks, the mushie costs 9.9k For 2 weeks, the granny costs 5.9k for 1 week x2 = 11.8k nx
I will tell you the benefits of both.
The mushie is good for people who have less items to sell and who have just "graduated" from the store permit. It holds the same number of items, 16, and it's the cheapest rate hired merchant.
The granny is for people who have more items to sell. It is essentially the "graduation" from the mushie, which holds only 16 items. The granny holds 25 items and also has an added bonus which will notify you when you sell an item. The notification is nothing flashy but it's nice for it to be there.
If you plan on opening 2 hired merchants, make sure to have at least 1 granny open. The other can be a mushie to save nx or if you're getting really into merching, you can open 2 grannies to sell 50 items. This is especially good if you have small things such as Nebulites, lots of empress, or even skill books. Although, personally, I wouldn't recommend it, I see this a lot though. People open a 2nd hired merchant and often times sell permanent nx in one and sell their serious merchanting items in the other. Personaly, I feel selling skill books in a hired merchant is a waste as you still have your store permit for that purpose but that's just me.
The granny costs more but will help more. But don't get the granny if you can't fill it up, seriously, that 11.8k nx vs the 9.9k nx different really does add up.

One tastes better than the other.
