They'd have to obtain it before trading if that were the case (not that it would make sense, because it's worth more than whatever you can get with stamps). Are you saying you're sure they're still obtainable from the boxes? That's what I'm asking.

Have any of you perhaps done a large box run and seen no sign of it or the opposite? Even confirmation that they are rewarded is good enough.

I don't mean they've disappeared in usage, but in shops. The very few I've seen in shops (across all servers) were being sold for high. I don't think you have the concept of "inflation" clicking rightly.
