For All You Merchers out there heres a question for you

Do you guys ever feel bad of taking advantage? Like earlier today i ran into some guy who was buying a frozen tuna, we chat for a bit and I find out he quit maple and recently came back. So i afk'd that night , in the morning he asked me if I had tuna's he can "merch" off them. I said sure. He offered 50m and me buying them for 20m ea sold him 10 tunas and 10 fishing poles 50m ea. He then later realized he just lost so much money and he cursed me out. I told him it's merching and that leads me to the question, do you guys ever feel bad for taking advantage of people?

I never take advantage of people, even when I'm merching, which is probably why I was so bad at it...

He offered 50 mil, so don't feel bad. His fault for not checking the price, it takes less than 30 minutes to browse the FM and he was BUYING them to RESELL so he should have been more diligent. Also the fact you had more than 5 of each of them should have tipped him off, but he bought them anyway.
However if he asked for a p/c and you told him 50 mil, or as someone else said was buying it for a collection, then yeah, I question your ethics.

I personally would have sold him it, then inform him the actual price and run off
Honestly, it shows people morals. You should feel bad, like you completely ripped that kid off pretty bad... People act so "bad" and cool behind their computers, it's pathetic. Would you do that to someone in real life?
I usually would agree with you but I don't see how making a profit is considered being "bad". You realize if everyone sold things for exactly what they were worth, the market would crash and burn. It takes all of 5 minutes to walk into an FM and check out the prices before buying something to make sure it's a decent price, the fact that he offered 50m goes to show how lazy or stupid he is. If your trying to buy things to resell yourself; do your homework and make sure your buying for the right amount. It's no ones job to hold your hand during all your maple trades.

It would of been a different story if he was buying as part of a collection.

I don't merch I'm one of those people who like to sell things cheap
at least, it usually feels like it's worth more esp. when people seem so eager to buy it, but seriously I don't care

I've gotten to the point where i would potentially take hundreds of millions of mesos away from POOR people who think 50million is a lot and it kind of does get to me therefore I've stopped merching for the time being. I just don't like to hurt other people who try to play this game for fun like that and stealing away mesos from those people just isn't right.
This is a video game..
Business is same anywhere. People can merch enough till their account is worth a house. You dont see the possibilities of how much you can gain from this game. It may be a game but people sell mesos for $ which earns them money. If you make enough mesos your making money. Lmao im sure there are merchants out there who earn more then someone would working in rl life for a week in like 2 days? lmao

No, it's not my fault they don't know the prices before buying.

What I do feel bad about is when people try to FOOL you into losing money. Like putting up a 28 att Knuckle and saying 'cheap 88 mil pirate GLOVE'.

Lol wdf, nothing to feel bad for. That guy was probably trying to make profit himself considering that you said he bought 10 of each them.

@donlolme
Perspectives, perspectives. It's a game but it's the same concept. A game is a game, but every person behind the character is a real person. Each person to their own.
Also, are you saying that taking advantage of someone for real money doesn't make you a terrible person?

That's kind of sad. You're being an asshole to someone that just came back. Sure, you may be doing "business," but remember that this is a game.
If you take advantage of someone for virtual money, then you are just a terrible person.
