@ImALowStr: Hawk might make the bombs use attack buff up. Which is very bad. o.o; Then I have 0% chance of surviving a bomb blast.

UPDATE:
Attempt one: Failed. Pap hit me then summoned a bomb on me which promptly blew up in my face without enough time to pot up. I thought the map was full with bombs, but it actually just kept summoning on top until it spawned the one that killed me.
Attempt two: Forgot Piece of Cracked dimension. Too anxious to take it on and forgot to get another from the NPC. -_-
Attempt three: Dunno, waiting till I can go back in, which will be approximatly 3am est. >_>

And the fact that I can't go in due to my forgetfulness and misunderstanding of the limitations to entering to the Inner Clocktower. >_< I probably won't be able to pin ol' Pap anyway. My control is pretty sloppy at times, but I'm pretty sure that not being able to pin won't be a big deal.
@evilslasher: I think you're right. The 2nd body has 200 less defense than the 1st body, so pinning that sucker should be much easier.

yea, when i did a 30-min pap solo (you'll see the reason soon why i took so long when i post the video ) i ended with some hugeass 18 GB file, split in 5 parts. but it didn't lag me too much, and the comp where i boss isn't that pro (core 2 duo 2.13, 1 GB ram, nvidia 9400gt, win XP, it has like 3 years)

pianus is even easier since you don't need to worry about pinning or having it bump into you, but more complicated in a way. sometimes bombs will spawn in front of you, or over you, so MB can play a dirty trick. bombs deal 8-10k damage if you hit them with almost anything other than strafe at your level, so watch before you shoot. also, left pianus isn't as deadly as right. for right pianus, you need to have godly evasion skills, or 4.6k+ HP. right only demands 3.6-3.8k, but it dispels (right doesn't dispel unless you get to fight both left AND right, funnest fight IMHO )

@pigflys: You can do it Just takes patience and enough HP to take a hit if needed.

Good luck. An old friend of mine leveled to 120 on her ranger by soloing papu. She ended up making getting to around 160 and then made a crossbowman. She then also soloed papu as a sniper to get to 120. This is all pre-potential, she quit quite awhile ago. I was just in the process of soloing my first papu on my WK but got cut off by the server check (level 111.) Figured it was worth a shot to try and finished, I got to about 20% left, and used no attack pots.

Nah if he's soloing he should be fine. The only time I've been killed when ducking under pap's 2nd form is if my Phoenix KBs it into me. -_-

I tried soloing Pap, I couldn't stand him dispelling and running into me simutaneously. I have solo'd Pap, took about an hour with a bunch of fatal slipups, but not a single person tried to KS me, and I kill the blood booms with Genesis anywho. It was very late at night though, and before potential as well.

Just apple and strafe his face off. With apple, I think you should be able to pin 2nd body fine. Don't bother killing the top bombs, eventually there will be so many top bombs that pap can't summon anymore bottom bombs. If you need to clear them, just use arrow rain. You shouldn't need to duck or puppet often for 2nd body if you have an apple... and I wanted to solo pianus, but I can never find one that spawned, besides, I hate killing bosses that aren't in their own minidungeon-esque map (imagines DK coming in to cave and using roar to activate the bloody booms). I'd like to kill left pianus as a personal achievement and for a chance of SS 20 though. I might try.

Stop debating and just go already, lol. I want to see it done, because I wanted to do it too When I did my first solo at 120, I probs had lower range and definately less hp than what you have now since it was like two years ago, pre potential crap and all this good stuff. It's not a matter of HP or damage ( for certain extent ). Just lrn2play and you can do it without pinning.

I'll wish you luck because I'm also attempting the same thing you are.

if you can't afford HB then GL (5 days x 2 times a day = 10 tries )
pianus hits 4k or something with the IMA FIRIN MAH LAZORRRR canon thing i think and 1/1s you a lot. try manon/griffey

I've seen people get hit when ducking, so be careful.

If you can survive the legendary laser beam attack of doom, you can solo pianus. Otherwise, it's impossible as his laser attack is a full-screen attack and you can't dodge/duck to avoid it.

Also, you might want to consider getting 3.3k+ HP to tank pap's first body damage if you haven't. Taking the body damage is better than detonating the 3.8k - 4k bombs if you do face that situation. I personally take about 3.2k damage with approximately 270 defense, give or take a few dozen, but I'm a higher level than you so that may (or may not) affect my damage intake.

@Blazeleo: I have 487 Weapon Def, plus I'll be using Pain Relievers which add 30 Def or Witch Stew, when I'm not using an Onyx Apple, which adds 100. So that'll help a lot with the damage I'll be taking. I'm primarily guessing on the damage I'll be taking since I have a hard time with Maplestory's damage formulas. ~_~ And I definitly don't have 2b collateral for HB. Uhmm.. those bombs can gouge 4k of my hp pretty easily.. Hopefully they'll hit less on you.

I soloed Pap successfully twice so far, but that's because I'm a NL. Doing it on a 3rd job Ranger would be 9001x more of an impressive feat, I must say. Good luck! ^_^

i've been (mostly trying to) solo pap ever since lvl 81, and it's one of the boss solos i do like (zak arms>pianus>pap, in that order). i do wish you good luck

just one note: fraps records in raw AVI format, so expect 30 mins take up to 15-20 GB, but nothing a good video edit software can't solve

I did some calculations and stuff and I figured that: 1st Body Pap touch damage for me is gonna be like 2.8~2.9k, ground bomb (unbuffed) is gonna be around 3.7~3.8k damage, and I didn't bother doing 2nd body since there's no way I'll be able to raise my Defense or HP up enough (unless I get Decent HB, which I will be adamantly looking for tonight.) to tank a hit from that. I'll have 3965 HP with Rex Earrings so I'll have juuust enough to tank a hit. My Ranger has pretty high Weapon def thanks to the crappy potential (+100 weapon def) on my shoes.

i have 500-600? (can't check cuz i'm not on)
and the body's touch damage sometimes hits me 3k...
HB usually costs 1.5b collat and 50m. but since you're a bowman you will need Common pants which usually require 2b+ collat...

Use the stews on 1st body, and an apple when going for 2nd, you'll need the extra power to pin it a bit so you can use puppet properlly.
A tip, 2nd body is faster than you think.

gl tanking a 5k hit...you might wanna buy some decent HB before you try to take pap. touch is 3k (first body) top bombs 8k, bottom bombs almost 4k (3.7k on me at lv130)

i dont see why u would want to record the whole run...maybe part of it? since fraps or w/e program u r planning to use will lag u a bit and u MIGHT die/dc because of it. if u dont have 4k HP, pap might be a lil troublesome for u...just cross ur fingers & hope that the bombs will miss u or hit u less than ur max HP lol

Alright. Well, I'll be taking Pap on tomorrow because my stupid self went in once, forgot to get pots, left to get them.. Then went back in and realized I forgot the Rex earrings.. >_< I thought you could only FIGHT twice.. I didnt know it counted to just go in. -_-

So I guess for tonight I'm going back to hunting Chronos for a card. Oh, and I am going to (try and) record it, but it'll be a pretty crappy vid because I have to keep frame rate low and record at half size so my computer doesnt lag too much for me to be able to fight properly.
Also, thanks to @tjd51 for suggesting Fraps. The guy who told me Fraps sucked is a perfectionist WoW junkie, so I guess I shouldn't have listened to him in the first place. =P

OT: you'll need to use puppet just before you kill the clock form, go away from it, snipe it down, and try to pin it.

I am going to start testing programs after BB to find which shows the exp bar best, mainly because I want to have a high quality capture of the numbers/%. to answer your question, I would try fraps, It isnt a bad program.

@ antrulz: Time is definitly no issue. And I've been watching some videos on Pap so I know about how it's gonna act and how to react. It also doesn't hurt that I'm used to high risk solo'ing. I solo'd Bigfoot back around when it first came out on a 97 Hermit and only died twice. xD
