Are Islanders Still a Thing?

I was thinking about finally making an Islander. Something about using limited resources to scavenge equips and items was intriguing to me.
Obviously, the social aspect is a huge part of it, though.

Which world has a good Islander demographic/guild?

While lots of additions to Maplestory (MTS, map deleting, Maple Island skipping) have ruined being an Islander, I hope that somewhere there are those who still live on.

RefreshxD

I pretty much quit maplestory. I made it to lvl70 on my islander, but eventually it was just completely stupid cause there was a quest that you could abuse. Then everyone got to like lvl100+ and eventually a glitch that allowed you to come back to the island. So islanding pretty much had no meaning what so ever. Now I haven't been on maple for a year now, or whenever phantoms came out. So I don't know how nexon handles glitches and hacks now, but if they can't fix it them like in the past. I see no point in making an islander.

yeah i think the game just has way to much content, that holding back your character, from doing all these new things and getting a higher level, much much faster will just piss you off lol. At least it would for me

No. Don't try making an Islander, grudge. If you are like 99.9% of the game's population, then your attention span is too short to make it past Level 20 on just various Snails and Orange Mushrooms. Even if you grow strong enough to finally one-hit the strongest enemy on the Island--the common Pig--then you'd still never get to a respectable level or status in a timely fashion. I've seen people try and make Islanders and get them to Level 200... that was 7½ years ago. If you wanna make a perma-Beginner, a little hint from someone who has one: make a Noblesse. With their lower level cap and more AP per level (six rather than five), you'll be stronger than most other perma-Beginners at your level. And yes, even though you'll only be getting 720 AP with a Noblesse rather than 1000 at maximum level, the odds of you getting anywhere close to, say... Level 100 without hacking or the use of Level 30/70 EXP Bottles (i.e.: the 1+1 Event on now for Tempest classes) are extremely low. And if you farm for coins and get the Tempest Armor Set for it at that point, you'll be one of the strongest perma-Beginners in the Maple World, if not the strongest. The only hard part is getting decent damage, but if you're funded and can buy Common-class attack equips and/or familiars for your level, you can make do. But I digress...

...Islanders don't really exist anymore. With all the content the game has, you'd have to be some kind of idiot to sit on Maple Island and pass it all by.
The best part about islanding back in the day was when people starting new characters would be like "whoa how did you get so high level?" this was like during the time before pirates came out though haha.

Nowadays no one starts on the island (other classes start elsewhere) since not many explorers are made, and they just skip the island usually.
Back in the day people were tricked and thought you could travel back to Maple Island xD
