Is Gintama any good?
I've heard that it gets serious in some arcs but I watched 14-15 episodes and it was all comedy. Is it worth investing 200 episodes in this show or watch others instead? I know better than to look at MAL ratings, but it's ridiculously high on the list.

I love Gintama personally. It's probably the only anime where I go back an rewatch episodes. There might be some references that you might not understand because much of it is Japanese-centered. (i.e: celebrities and brands). Other then that, go for it. <3
I think Gintama is great. Unfortunately, the earlier episodes aren't very impressive or indicative of the series in general. The humour improves, the serious arcs can be disturbingly epic and sad, and with Gintama', it has a noticeably better budget. If you don't mind watching things a little out of order, you can jump to something better, like the first arc of Gintama', to see for yourself if it's a worthy investment.
I honestly think Gintama is one of the best animes out there. It's not just comedy it has action and some arcs are really well written. However there are quite a bit jokes you won't understand unless you watch a ton of anime especially bigger ones like the big three and dragon ball, several Miyazaki movies, video games and even some American movies. It isn't something that I would go and marathon since it doesn't have a really solid plot or extreamly long arcs. I usually just watched it when waiting for new episodes for other animes or when I wanted to laugh.

It's comedy and action. It's action arcs are even better, imo.
It's honestly a great comedy show with a horrible budget and probably won't last long anytime soon, sadly.
But if you really want to laugh a lot, do iit.
Pretty sure they ended the anime 1 year ago though.

good comedy, good action. good anime
I didn't like it. Apparently it takes like 30 episodes for it to get funny..
it's a comedy show, don't expect anything other than comedy from it.
Yup, I tried to watch/read it too, but the gags/parody jokes just didn't click with me and I dropped both.
I read some of the manga and tried watching the anime but dropped both. It was unfunny as hell, though it's probably because of a difference in sense of humor. I didn't find Nichijou funny at all either and there are people that think otherwise. If you enjoy the comedy so far, then why not just continue watching for just that?
Read my IGN lolz
Gintama is the best comedy anime there is.

One word, three letters: YES.
I heard it's pretty funny but I have no time to actually watch so many episodes now
