Exiled from the desert city of Ariant, the deeds of these destructive spell-casters echo throughout the memories of Ariant's citizens. Although dwindling in numbers, now, with the return of the Black Mage shaking the Maple World's foundations, they rise again! Together with the Black Mage, they seek to take revenge on the world cast them away.
A fictional job that I'd come up with the other day. Geomancers are earth-based spellcasters that hurl boulders, and shatter the earth beneath their enemies to cause massive damage. This could perhaps be the first of a long line of "evil" classes that could be developed for the game! I know I'd like an evil class! The hairstyle is an original design, while the equipment of the character is based on equipment seen in-game (along with an "Earth" elemental wand ) The background was taken from the big bang trailer as a screenshot. This is my first time trying to emulate the MapleStory drawing style, but if there's enough demand for it, I'd make more in the future Penciled, inked and then transferred and painted in photoshop.

@Acetyl Yes! That's actually where I got it from. I thought it made a great name. Some people are saying its a reference from DotA, but I don't play, let alone know the heroes in it. The term geomancer surely existed before it was "popularized" by DotA. Thanks very much for sharing that!
When I first heard about the resistance, I was excited and thought we would be able to play as the evil side for once. Then I discovered it's just the done to death "revolution against the evil empire or whatever corrupt authority" archetype found in every RGP. I was so looking forward to working for the dark side for a change (ironic coming from a bishop, though the same could be said for a paladin lol).
Still, excellent artwork as always. Seems more colorful and cartoonish than most of your other work, but it's far beyond anything I could do. Now, L>BARBARIAN, AX WIELDING EVIL WARRIOR CLASS

Man that's actually a Really good idea, thinking of the skills and sprites for this class is amazing, man I'm an artist and I've just been getting really inspired lately but thinking of this type of job is Actually really cool, there's that one weapon in the cs and taking some ideas from that Sort of, the base of that but with ariant type vibe to the class would make it really cool. You could also involve a skill that would castable whenever you're about to get hit by a shooting magic attack or w/e or maybe even reg magic att from a monster you use that right timing and the earth would block all damage.

If by "shopped" you mean I used photoshop to make the picture, then yes, I photoshopped it. But if by "shopped" you mean I manipulated other pictures and joined them together to make this picture, then you're completely wrong. is completely wrong. Secondly, I am the only person on earth who owns the original pencil sketch and inking copy for this picture. You will not find this image anywhere else on the web apart from basilmarket, so don't spout unwarranted comments on this forum. If you're still in doubt however, have a look through my basil gallery. My usual style is far more detailed and tedious to create than what you see here. This was a simple 3 hour piece. If you're still in doubt after that, well then I can't help you.

Hahaha! Im glad you guys think this looks convincing! But for those of you who may not believe that I did this, if you take a look at the linework, you'll notice that its slightly thicker than most of the official maplestory artowork. That's because the lines were inked traditionally. And I don't have thinner-tipped pens

The name of the class needs work, other than the plot and stuff it's brilliant!
It would be really interesting if they gave this class a specific story. How I'm thinking it should go is that Grendel advances you to magician normally, but he questions your "way of thinking". Then, you get to second job and Grendel notices that your mindset is evil, and that you need to be banished. Blablabla, you get banished from Ellinia, some random stranger shows up in your dream while you're drunk on potions and passed out. You suddenly travel to Ariant and find your true calling or somesuch. At first, you are reluctant to realize your own true nature, but as time goes along, you become more comfortable with your alignment. OOH, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!
At least it'd make it a bit more interesting... but out of line with the rest of the classes. Classes in this game really don't have any kind of half-decent storyline. "You're a warrior, this guy needs help, go kill some crap."
"You're an Aran, you were trapped in ice, blablabla, no one cares, go kill some crap." Anything that could potentially be interesting boils down to "go raid this place and kill this foo'!"

I've always hoped for that, like 2 different factions. And the classes are like, eviler and darker versions of the explorers, KoC, and the Legends. And maybe the resistance if that works. o_o. Like resisting against... henesys. I guess. Lol.
