I like how in every thread about ANYTHING during the "old days," the community was better. Really? That's a ballsy statement to make.
We were terrible then, and terrible now. And for future reference, sex threads pop-up pretty often, and to my knowledge, no one gets banned for them.

the best thing back then was that the same thread wouldn't get stuck on the first page of chat

it just doesn't process as fast now, leaving threads (not necessarily popular) on the first page for a whole day

chat was more active back in the day imo

I remember posting once on some massive flaming thread and everybody on the thread got suspended. Ahhh and I got suspended for a day for one post I couldn't believe it. There was so much flame/troll...

Ehhh it was alright back then. It's alright now. Overall pretty boring unless you have some friends on here.

I don't know if I can agree with the TS lol. But, I'll be bias and say that I do like how Basilmarket was back then only because of the friends I made

I remember like about a few months after I joined Basil, it was raided by Lucy.

@NapalmDe4th: Yeah, I don't get banned that often, but I got a warning for correcting Mr. B's grammar once LMAO. I see people getting banned for stupid reasons though (or they're lieing xD).

And yeah, there would always be two front page threads: "CLERICS ARE SUPPOSED TO HEAL ONLY" and "Guys! Be nice to clerics, they're vital to your survival in PQs!" They're be like 3x-4x pages each, best thing ever. xD

I think Basil has improved. Yes it's more stricter than before, but at least there's some order. I do miss the old layout from time to time XP And there are a lot more auctions back then...

Edit: And the trolls were actually good or funny, or everyone had a good laugh about them. I remember someone made a thread like "Girls only," and then the OP was "Okay, how many guys entered?" Lol, I think it got overdone after that guy did it, and now that trolling "method" died out. That thread got a solid 30+ pages before it was locked, lmao.

Edit 2: @SgtGrif, you have the wrong impression. Mods weren't QQing at the users like usual, and in fact they weren't QQing at all. Mr. B just doesn't know wtf he's doing, and doesn't run things fairly. It's practically a known fact.

Oh yes. My favorite was wintersfire. He was allowed to roam free and flame everything he possibly could without getting banned for saying 1 simple word. It is all in good fun. Back then downright swearing and attacking = a suspension. Nowdays constructive criticism or arguments that seem just a [i]little[/i] strong are an immediate 7 day ban.

Most of what you said gives me a different impression. I'm glad Basil isn't like that now. Seems like no one understood artistic talent, people trolled and spammed random threads about the same topics or sex, and moderators were QQ'ing.
