Addressing Ap concerns

Hey guys, it's me I know I haven't been as active around both on Basil or on Maple. But with the Legend Shop up and all, there's a flood of threads regarding AP conversion, from Normal to Low, Normal to DEXless, Low to DEXless, you name it, not to mention the mountain of PM's I've received about the same topic. So to just throw out my take on each of your concerns, I made this thread to address the questions of "How much DEX should I reset to with X funding and what items do I need to do it"

[header]I got an AP reset and I want to lower my DEX. How much do I lower to?[/header]
The golden question everyone is asking. So how much DEX do you reset to? As you may all know already, the number of HTPs are drastically increasing in FM, meaning right off the bat, you have 22 DEX for a reasonable price. Then we have our old-school items like (Chaos) Zakum Helmet, Scarga Helm, Evolving Rings, Face/Eye items, etc, you know what I mean. Then we also have the Cannoneer's Link skill which provides 15 of all stats to one character on the account within the same world as your level 70 Cannoneer.

Now I'm just throwing numbers at you but you would say to yourself this (for most of the readers) "I can get my hands on most/all of these items!" These basic items are cost efficient, abundant in number and only takes a while to get (Link skill). That being said, we'll go down the basics:

[*] 17 Helm -> We're using a Scarlion DEX helm as our benchmark. Adjust accordingly to what helm you can get your hands on
[*] 15 Cannoneer Link Skill -> Self explanatory
[*] 14 Rings -> Here we're using 2 Evolving Ring 15s as our benchmark and 1 Legendary Maple Ring (lv 120). If you have other rings, adjust accordingly
[*] 22 / 5 Horntail Necklace/MoN or Dep Star -> Self explanatory. MoNs are really for those with one already but it gives the same attributes as a Dep Star (DEX/LUK)
[*] 4 Legendary Maple Leaf -> Fairly cheap item in the Legend Shop. It's level 70 and provides 3 of all stats, which is pretty sweet. And it's permanent!
[*] 1 Crusade Codex -> We're using a set-less Codex. If you're using a set that gives stats, adjust accordingly.

These are your most common attributes for potential DEX, giving you a total of 56 to 73 DEX. That's a long way from 120 DEX though I'm using 120 DEX as our benchmark for Pirate items, you can choose to shoot for 130 DEX for Osfa but that's up to you. Remember that these are just your every day items. If you choose to scroll your Helm, you have an advantage over someone who doesn't scroll their helm. Armor DEX scrolls are everywhere, so scrolling your Helm to about 28 DEX shouldn't be a problem for many of us.

[header]That's only 50-70 DEX though, what about the rest?[/header]
As I said before, the list above is solely from everyday items that are abundant but you are NOT limited to those items alone. If you have earrings that gives DEX or a belt that gives DEX or even %all stats potential from items, that will add on situationally. So add in the tidbits of DEX here and there and you adjust your numbers accordingly. Remember that you can overshoot a bit, meaning if you have 70 DEX in items now, you can say that you have 80 DEX because you might find some way to get that DEX.

[*]Example: 120 DEX goal. You have 70 DEX in items off the bat. You can say you have 80 DEX, and you do the math. 120-80 = 40. That would ideally be where you want to reset to.

[header]BIG NOTE![/header]
Remember that post-revamp, Thieves will be getting a Physical Training component to their SECOND JOB skills, meaning we receive a free 30 DEX. Now this raises some concerns because the revamp won't hit for another few months at the very least, so whether or not you want to add 30 DEX right now on top of the DEX you have is up to you, but that means you'll be running around with 30 DEX less than you need until revamp.

[header]Real business[/header]
So enough with the numbers, time for more numbers. With the example listed above, you can build onto that, meaning you can do some mathcraft to see how much DEX you have at hand right now, then subtract it from your goal (120+) and that would theoretically be your base DEX give or take about 10 DEX. Now I'm not downplaying anyone for being any AP stat Thief, but my recommendation is as follows:

[*]DEXless 50>: Unless you have an extremely significant amount of funding (around the 15-20b+ area), I wouldn't touch the DEXless route. Reason being is that if you don't have the funding to pump your base DEX up to the amount needed to one of the higher tier claws in terms of items, you won't be doing the damage you see on other DEXless, you will lack damage compared to even low/RegDEX with mediocre items.

[*]LowDEX 50<x<100: This is my ideal recommendation for those who are converting from high/normal to lowDEX. This is the midpoint of a Craven and near midpoint for other claws above a Craven. The 70 or so DEX is not hard to get at all, especially if you can get the DEX to wear a Pirate/Osfa top/bottom. Believe it or not you won't be spending as much as you used to to get the DEX you need for your items. If you are mediocrely funded or somewhere in the meh funding, I would recommend this DEX range. Adjust the X value accordingly to funding though I'd say 80-90 would probably be the most you'll ever need if not 70-.

[*]Normal 100<: Well this is basically obsolete now with Cannoneer Link and all, but falling under the Normal/RegDEX category means you won't have to spend too much on DEX to wear a full Raven set. Or you can be pro like orangeking11 and xVolcomStone and wear a full Raven/Reverse/Timeless set

[header]WALL OF TEXT![/header]
This is basically just a wall of text. Whether or not you take this into consideration when you buy/use your AP reset is up to you. This is just to clarify on questions regarding "How much DEX should I reset to with X funding and what items I need to do it"

+15 stats. From what I'm hearing, they apparently stack, meaning if you get a Mercedes, DS and a Cannoneer, you'll get the 10%PDR, 10% EXp and the +15 all.
When are we getting the thief revamp as of the latest?
and uhm u can;t get that link from mercedes or a demon slayer? o.o
I've played both Cannoneer and Mercedes, and I was able to link my NL with both of the skills.

I haven't made/played a Mercedes/Demon Slayer yet so I can't be sure. The revamp I would expect to land by March/April if not later in June/July

Cannoneer Link is from getting your Cannoneer to level 70. At that point you can choose a character in the same world on that account to receive the 15 all stats. Physical Training's 30 DEX/LUK is given when you allocate 10 points into the skill as an Assassin.

As much as your attitude of gratitude when someone answers a question. Shows how you feel about getting your questions answered and what you think of those at answer your questions

Well, I had 100 base DEX, then I got the AP Reset and I had 230+ DEX all together, but I miscalculated it because I had the Raven Horn Chaser overall and shoes, which brought up the extra DEX and I didn't even think about it, haha. So when I used it, I realized that, and ended up with 81 DEX in the end. Now I have the whole set (except for the claw) and am going to reset my AP with the ones from the Cash Shop. Haha.

P.S. I really facedesk'd when I found out that they were giving out AP resets during the last Hot Time. I used it, then found out about Hot Time. >_>
