Are you truly a Maple Veteran ?
Hello Maple Veteran,
I heard you missed old Maple and everything that goes with it.
Throughout all the nostalgia threads you went into, you have impressed me with your solid knowledge about the birth of this game and its childhood.
Now, let's get to the point of this thread.
I want you to tell me what does this picture represent. Be as specific as possible.

They deleted the picture x.x
I'd buy that ign "World".
OT: Perion being an FM.
I remembered I summon that which I died too
It's Perion back when everyone was hanging out and selling stuff there, chances are someone used a summoning sack, or a GM summoned monsters
Maplers miss the simplicity of the game and how great the community was. Before 2008, there were only Explorers minus pirates and everyone had basically the same damage. People used to do quests all the time to level in the early levels. Getting your 3rd job was very difficult and getting 4th job was outstanding. Leveling was hard, so you got to meet lots of cool people. Bosses took a long time to kill (Like Zakum and Pap). Soloing Zakum... that was an insane accomplishment. Lvl 200s were EXTREMELY rare, too xD.
Today, the game feels rushed. There's no time to meet friends and leveling is a joke. Lvl 200 isn't as big as an accomplishment as it was before. Lots of maplers are soloing bosses and everyone has completely different damage. One time, a level 130 DrK rivaled my damage o.O. And with decent skills out, DrKs, Archers, Buccs, and other classes with decent skills aren't invited to parties as much as they used to (I can vouch for this).
I hope this answers your question haha.
OT: lol graveyard chaos xDD.
All of this. "Rushed" is the perfect word for it, I think.
Was Big-Bang that bad? I hear a lot of people saying that it was bad. I'm pretty New (Jan 2012) so, it seems like a nice community in that picture.
Looks like the person who made this SS has a PC made of carboard boxes. i do not regret if you made it f3
Looks like a balrog was summoned in Perion. Damn, i remember the tabs on the bottom right. They changed so much.
when we were all naive simpletons who were able to get by without nx and what really mattered was our level
I've changed computers....many times since starting....sadly, so that means no SS from when i started,
but I remember when my friend first told me about the game, he was describing it, and then he said
there was a new world coming soon, and that we could play together in the new world, and stuff like that.
I can't remember when it was, but downloaded teh game on the day the new world was released, and when
I first saw it, I thoguht it was called Winda. haha so yeah....I started playing when windia was released.
@Kaojiru: Maple vs Story
Ha, I found my earliest screencap~ From 2005.
And for good measure, quest completion from '05.
I miss many things about MS from then. It was so exciting when we got Ludibrium and Aqua, ha. Cash Shop wasn't around, let alone MTS. Still miss the old Victoria layout the most. It feels so isolated and claustrophobic now. The atmosphere of the game has just gotten so different.
I see the ign prince... Holy.
I believe that is actually princejoey. Still nice though.
SOME MUTHAFKER HAS FRICKEN MALCOMX?
Unfair. Funfair.
I see the ign prince... Holy.
I have no idea. The end.
@Glinda21: ya those were the days, leveling was hard, GM's actually did somethign and people actually had fun
The little gem like mouse thingy. I miss that. 3;
yeah I forgot what its called but its so pretty
Now I don't know exactly when this screenshot was taken but judging by the snow it must be around December 2005 - Jan 2006..
And since Ludibrum wasn't even out yet at that time it means it could not have been a summoning sack that killed them.
I was in Sleepywood at the time. Was a lvl 29 bowman and wanted to see how bad a maple blizzard was
No, the first Light Snow determines that the town(s) was/were not as populated much, and the Heavy Snow determined that the town was slightly more populated, and Blizzard determines that the population in the specified town was very much populated, like how Perion was the Free Market,so the population was big.
It just means that the amount of "Snow" there is for each town determines the population of the town at the time.
But of course, the picture also shows that Perion was the Free Market at the time, and that levels never really mattered, although 60+ was pretty pro.
Old stuff back from Pre-BB.
Represents how the level 60+ People in that pic were pro back then xD
um well there's the fm substitute, the old cursor, and you're a decent level?
Oh I remember that. :o And lol @ the guy buying the top/pants. Those were worth so much back then and now it's worthless/useless now.
I had 400-500+ screens from back then, but I deleted them a few months ago because I needed space. --;
Don't take this the wrong way but that's really really stupid. Old maple memories mostly remain in the SS
Lmfao that event was a good one. It was amazing 80% people died while the few decent people fought with their lives. I miss old Maple but honestly if it wasn't updated with new jobs, content and etc the game would of died long ago. To people who think old MS with 4 classes is better than it is now you are a moron. Without new stuff this game would of been flushed down the crapper years ago.
Rofl no one's using NX
I hated old ms cause it took forever to lvl and there wasn't a lot of places to explore.
Ah Perion. Back when this was the free market.
And when the mouse cursor wasn't the master hand...
I'm gonna guess it's the perion FM zone after a summoning bag spree by somebody..
Gasp, I loved that mouse! but then http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080225200440/ssb/images/6/65/CrazyHand.jpg came out.
To prove that you really are a veteran, you must provide a SS of you saying your Basil ID with a quest showing a date from 2006 or before.
i played the other version of maple story
so im not a veteran
I came early '09. I'm not that old lol.
But I do miss the old maple, at least the 'old' to me.
dude..this was a throwback. GMS's population hasnt looked like that for years. And summoning bags heh...well those were just big fun outside of kpq
Started playing when Maple was in open Beta, and started about a week after the ending of beta. (Thus making me miss my chance of getting my Mark of Beta)
Ill be honest, I dont remember any snowing events, but then again, I tended to stay away from Ch 1 Perion because of the lag, and because wild boars constantly killed me lol
Back when Perion use to be the fm. Aaah, I'd also remember summoning sacks would be used to kill people in Perion. But I'm only started playing in 06 or 07.
To prove that you really are a veteran, you must provide a SS of you saying your Basil ID with a quest showing a date from 2006 or before.
Hahaha Summoning Sacks..i used to love that ^-^
"Oh you didn't play the first few months the game existed?"
NOT A VETERAN THEN!
Perion, which was the FM.
It was a GM event.
this question is too easy
GM event in Perion
some1 summoned monsters in Perion
Perion was a FM
GRAVEYARD CHAOS
Well thats a dumb question.
GM Event, but back when Perion was FM.
How does knowing something so simple make one some kind of veteran?
Knowing this one-of-a-kind event involving snow would make someone a veteran in my eyes.
I didn't want to put emphasis on Perion being the old FM.
@Lengai: Everyone's going to claim to have been there just because most people have some sort of 'being a veteran' complex and most people will lie about how long they've been playing for no reason whatsoever. Look at any of the 'how long have you been playing' threads. There is no way that the vast majority of people have been playing since before 2006 ended.
Edit: That would make most people over 18, which is absolutely not the case
True, most people aren't going to be over 18. But I'm 21 so..It's not unheard of. I started playing my Freshman year of high school, and now I'm about to be a Senior at university. There's a solidarity in nostalgia. I wouldn't call anyone a "veteran" necessarily because it's misleading. I may have been playing since '05 but I didn't play regularly for around two years, so I'm still way out of the loop with the updates and the current economy. And I'm a horribly slow leveler (or was). But hey, I've got screenshots from back then so.. /shrugs/
If people want to lie about it, that's their problem. They won't have the memories.
Am I the only person who played then but had no idea about Perion market place? I've been playing since '07 and I remember none of this.
I was also 11 at the time

GM events (such as GMs summoning random monsters that the average level 50- people can't kill back then.)
And summoning sacks ; I remember people summoning omega sector aliens in the KPQ waiting place in front of the sewers. Happens on a regular basis xD
How does knowing something so simple make one some kind of veteran?
It's more along the lines of remembering something first-hand. Nostalgia~

I started playing in August '05. This was what passed for Free Market~
I looked through my old screen shots and I think I miss Victoria's original layout the most. And no CS meant no Henehoing. I can't seem to make friends now that I'm playing again. :[
