Playing with no funds

Two summers ago, I came back to Maple after a few years away. A lot (almost everything) had changed since I'd last played, so in order to regain my bearings, I decided to make a fresh start in a new world. I chose to play a new cleric (the first class I'd ever played on Maple), figuring the job would allow even an unfunded player to progress self-sufficiently.

I had a blast living the no-meso life! I wasn't concerned about my damage at all, so I was more than happy to make due with the (few) free equips I could get from events. To my surprise, I was even able to hit 4th job (for comparison, before that summer [and way before Big Bang] my highest leveled character was a 113 I/L), and I managed to use my Renegades Coins to obtain a few mastery books. Training and PQs were a breeze. Things were great!

Fast forward to today, my first day back on Maple since that summer. I'm afraid that lifestyle is gone, for two main reasons:
1. A lot of my skills are stuck at level 10, and with less than 1 mil in the bank, I'm nowhere near the 7 million required to buy my books.
2. I don't remember ever using MP pots on my bishop before, but as I was training at EVO today, I ran out of MP quite a few times. Fortunately I had some mana elixirs on me, but I don't have much money to spend on better pots.

So I guess my questions fall into two main categories:
Funding 4th job: What are good ways a broke level 128 Bishop can earn money? Do people typically make it to 4th job with the 130 mil they need for all their books? In your experiences, have you been able to make money while training (thinking back to LMPQ days), or do you set aside separate time to craft, merch, etc.? If merching is the only option, I think I'd honestly prefer picking up a new class and getting it as far as I can without funding, for the time being.

MP Pots: I'm currently using a Jr. Boogie familiar to help me with my MP, but things get scary as soon as he expires. Is there a better familiar I should be using? Skills I should be investing in (does Infinity make a big difference)? Pots I should be looking into?

Thanks!

Making mesos from the ground up is a step-by-step and long process, but it'll get you there.

If you're aiming for damage, go for Xenon. They have the highest damage output without funding.
You can't actually make substantial mesos in this game without getting them directly or indirectly from hackers. Merching, bossing, scrolling, and cubing high end items are the only legit ways to stay funded.

Try changing channels, it'll let you get a new Jr. Boogie when it expires. Ginger ales are the potion everyone uses (from NLC), but I guess if you can survive on mana elixers then that's cool. It probably slows your training down substantially though.

If want to not put money into the game (mostly impossible nowadays), go with Demon Avenger. They're the only class for which you don't need to buy potions. Once you get to...I think 179, HoH is the only option, and you need to either be funded, or a bishop or kanna.
This is pretty helpful - thanks!
A couple follow up questions:

-Can you change channels in EVO?
-I've seen Kanna mentioned as another low-cost class. Do they require mastery books?
-I get that I'll have to buckle down and earn mesos at some point, and that doesn't bother me. For now, though, I'm looking for a class I can just pick up and play while on my vacation. I've heard that Cygnus Knights are a good option, since they don't require mastery books. Something like a Dawn Warrior seems like a good choice, but I'm worried that a Wind Archer would suffer from pot-burn. Any thoughts?
-How do newbies get around this whole funding problem these days? Back in the day, I don't ever remember having more than 5 mil for my first 100 or so levels, but it was never an issue.
