I've never had bad acne, and it's calmed down as I've gotten older. I'd barely have any pimples if I could just leave them alone. They're so satisfying to pop.
fkin hate u guys. i have some on my chin, near my nose and a bit on my forehead, not a huge amount though
i woke up this morning with a MASSIVE one on my chin, underneath the surface, so it's painful and inflamed. i just bought a neutrogena 'acne stress control' or something cleanser. i really hope it works.

it's this one, http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lUs_4U_qr78/TGVyVPvaBnI/AAAAAAAAA9Y/2reFucIuOL0/s400/acne.JPG

It's not toooo bad right now. I got a bit of scalp acne towards the end of summer though, and it itched a lot. So now I scratched a certain part of my scalp to the point where there's a bald spot, and I have to cover it with hair.

I get a pimple like each month o-o

It usually goes away on a few days.

Though when I notice it I freak out.

I have no pimples on my face anymore, but I have lots of red dots in my skin. It's annoying because I can feel how smooth my face is, but it still has the appearance of terrible acne. :l

I get zits about once every other month, but when I do they are massive..
I use Proactiv but usually end up popping it.

I've never really been much of a pimply/acne kid.

If I get sick, I'll get anywhere from 1-3 pimples near my nose, probably because of the snot/bacteria from being sick.

I used have A LOT of pimples on my forehead, but i started drinking more water and playing much, much more physically-demanding sport i.e basketball, running
and now mostly scars are left.
Although some pop up now and then (mostly on my neck though...)
lolol of course
and do you have a moisturizer by the way? combination skin moisturizers are pretty good in general, doesn't make your face too oily but helps with dryness.
shower is complete! i've got a few moisturizers laying around the house, i've been contemplating using http://dermaveen.com.au/moisturisers/dermaveen-moisturising-lotion/ this, though have been very worried it would break me out and sabotage my progress i've made.

My face is so greasy it's not even funny.
I could use a scraper thingy and fry potatoes with the oil.
in that case then, the cleanser should be working fine
i would get an oil-free toner though for your skin. if it had salicylic acid in it, it could definitely help with controlling your acne/elimination of the oil on your nose.
i also find most of the blackhead removing products full of crap....so good think you didn't buy them lolol
i would just exfoliate your skin in general. as long as you don't over-exfoliate, exfoliation is a wonderful thing to do.
also for future reference, if you get a bad case of acne again, you should consider using tea tree oil.
it's a natural antibiotic and helps with the disinfection of the pores, aka white heads, blackhead, acne, etc
although it can be drying and should not be applied liberally, just where needed and not too much. i wouldn't use it on your nose sadly.
thanks for the help! i actually went down the natural oil route at the peak of my break out to no success. i will look into the oil free toner, in fact i've got a biore triple action toner handy here, which i might apply tonight on the t-zone. :o i really don't want to irritate my cheeks too much, because they do look pretty fabulous right now, minus the discolouration. i think i'm going to shower now and exfoliate! i think i am too excited for this...
sounds like you overdried out your skin using benzoyl peroxide and it caused your t-zone to over-produce oil
in that case i would exfoliate regularly. regardless you should try a salicylic acid wash. there are actually quite a few people allergic to benzoyl peroxide, and you might be one of them. if this is true, you can still use salicylic acid which would not only help with your acne problems but would reduce the oil you have on your t-zone. which i have to ask, was your t-zone always super oily or was it just recently since you starting using a gentle cleanser?
the oily skin started once the pimples began. i went through a period where i definitely over washed due to anxiety, which i gathered contributed to my oily skin. oddly enough, the only place where the oil is extremely bad is my nose, as i think the gentle cleanser stopped the oil production slightly. i've got a few blackheads on my nose, and haven't been too centred on buying the blackhead designated cleansers, because with oily skin i gathered that they'd return just as quickly as i cleared them. should i exfoliate just my cheeks? i don't have red marks anywhere apart from my cheeks and chin area, (thankfully).

I have black heads on my cheeks. I've tried Crest toothpaste (from what I've heard, toothpaste works really great) but my skin gets damaged/dry. I use regular Japanese face wash now but it seems its not working. Should I just stick with toothpaste or is there some other way to get rid of them?
either an apricot scrub or this.
i really love michelle phan's scrub, i've been using it for monthhhhhs now. my skin is very dry.
when it's not really dry at all and it's doing just fine, i use an apricot scrub. when it's dry or flakey even a little i use michelle phan's scrub.
i wear makeup everyyyy single day and i'm a makeup artist, so my makeup has to look flawless. dry and flakey skin just don't work.

it really depends.
exfoliating should NOT break you out unless you're irritating your skin with your exfoliation products.
i.e. you're being too harsh on your skin which will cause it to produce an excess amount of oil, or just produce redness and possible acne.
what skin type are you? combination dry/oily, dry, oily, normal?
my cheeks undertook quite a bad break out months and months ago before i realised benzoyl peroxide wasn't for me, so i'm using more gentle cleansers. having said that, my T-zone is beyond oily. :<
as i said to rod7, when you have discoloration of the skin what you want to do is restore your skin back to it's proper pH and try to remove any of the old scars you may have had. you can do this by exfoliating regularly, as in 2-3 times a week (NO MORE THAN THAT EVER), cleansing your skin, toning your skin and doing things like facial masks like the egg facial which helps break up scar tissue.

clinique also makes a wonderrrfulllll corrector called even better skin tone corrector
works miracles. patience is the only thing you're going to need when it comes to this though.
how about st. ives apricot scrub for exfoliating? it's the only one i've used and am 80% sure it doesn't break me out.

the problem i've got currently is no matter how clear my face could be, from past break outs i'm left with really obvious red marks. they're months old (probably 8 months for most of them), and they're still there. i've been putting vitamin e cream on them to no success. they'll fade away in time... but how much time do they need!
any side effects? i've been seeing a dermatologist for a few weeks, and my pimples aren't that bad honestly, but it's just hard to get rid of them completely, so accutane has been mentioned. my skin has some good times, and bad times.
Well, your skin (not just face) gets very, very dry. Its uncomfortable at times. Your eyes are always red if you don't use eyedrops. But it gets rid of the acne, but all of the red scars from previous acne stay. Not sure how you get rid of those, I'll ask Narcissus.
