At what age did your parents stop quotbabyingquot you?

So I'm 16 now and I left HS two years early to go to my local JC. I've just finished up finals last week and now I have no classes until January 6th of 2014. Today (Sunday) I was out with some friends playing basketball at a nearby park. After that we headed over to one of their houses and we ordered pizza, played Xbox, and watched the rerun of the Cavs vs. Heat game from last night. Out of nowhere I get a call from my dad. When I pick up he's yelling at me saying that I am staying out too late (3:30 pm pacific), and that I am abusing my privileges and their trust. So I naturally rush over to my house and my dad's not even there. I walk inside and find my mom in the kitchen. She's washing the vegetables for tonight's dinner and I ask her what I did wrong. She turns to me surprised and asks me why I came home so early (4:30pm). So it turns out that my dad was the one being pissed off and still babying me. So my question is whether or not you guys think my dad's anger is justified and at what age did your parents stop putting a leash on you?

I was a good kid that didn't really do anything out of line so there wasn't really any need. They babied me in a school aspect though. They were afraid of me repeating my brother's mistakes, so bad grades weren't acceptable. There was always a bit too much pressure in that aspect. But that's a long story.

My parents would never nag me and I was pretty much free to do what I wanted. If I went to a friend after school they just wanted to know where I was going and if I would be back for dinner. If I wouldn't, they just wanted me to call or something like that. They were a little afraid of not knowing where I was, but that's also my brother's fault.

Actually, everything bad in my life is his fault.

3:30 l0l wow way too early. Then again, I never could go outside when I was 16.

probably when I turned 18 was when I was when my parents didn't care about what I did as long as I told them I'm outside.

I sometimes come home at around 3am.

You're 16. Not 18.

Wait till you're 18 before you start complaining.

Probably like 13/14. I had a cell phone; they knew I could call if I got into any trouble. I also have a very open relationship with my mother, so she never really had a reason to be one of those overprotective, "always assume the worst" moms. Nowadays I hear from them about once a week.

My parents don't give a crap what I do or where I go as long as I tell them.

These days they only get pissed if I get a bad grade. They're too busy with their own lives to care about babying me.

I think my parents still did that when I visited home last year, but really just my dad. I'm 22 now, but it was more of a "let us know where you are and when you're not going to be home," for safety precautions I guess. That may never go away, as long as I go back and visit and stay at their home from time to time. Just good to know where your guests are, y'know? But the whole "babying" thing definitely stopped around they time I was able to secure my own rides to places. Middle school I guess?

Me too. I was told that I drive them intense.

OT: They stop caring after I graduated.

3:30pm?

LOOOOOLLLL omg thats sad
My mom babies me since im the youngest and she still sees me as the sweet, kind child that i was many years ago.
She just talks to me like a child. Like, "hey, what did you eat today?" in a really soft toned voice.
But it gets annoying because whenever im at school she texts me, "where are you?"
like
uh
idk
school?
dealing drugs?
Hrmmmm?1?1/

I guess when I was 19 since I moved away.
Even since I was 16 years old I knew I was going to move out.

I moved back (because I ran out of money) when I was 21 but six months later I was gone, I couldn't handle it.

oh and regarding the restrictions:
i stopped caring when i got my license, i go out when i want and i come back when i want, if they don't like it they will lecture me. I'm old enough/big enough, so they can't smack me around anymore

I think it was the opposite for me but I literally had no restrictions until much later in my life (when I was 17+). I'm 19 now and I still have to come home before 2 AM or whatever if I'm back at home. Obviously I spend a majority of my time at college so I don't have a curfew when I'm upstate but she still gets irritated when I don't call home every Friday (which is always).

direct quote from my mom:
"you'll always be my little boy, no matter how old you get i'll always treat you as a child because it makes me feel younger"
