Why are DAs so unpopular?

I barely come across any while playing Maple, and I just went through the rankings, the top 100 don't even have a DA!

You just had to prepare for it, and many didnt. So they lost to new classes and then pros with the older classes

I Started playing my DA in late Jan. Ever since I've enjoyed playing this class~ I do agree that its hard funding this character due to the lack of high level equips with %HP but I still keep going~ If need be I'd make my own %HP gear while also looking for better~

I'm getting back in my DA now after not touching it for a while and I remembered why I loved this thing!
Doesn't die and does very respectable damage

I actually love my DA to death. Although it isn't my main character, but there's nothing I DO NOT like about this class. I've decently funded mine and I always enjoy every time I end up logging on to it. I wish I could fund it more...but as mentioned earlier, gear is expensive and rare, and I am definitely not down to offer up my leg and my car to get warrior ra/tyrant....

ALSO the faf desperado is the coolest faf ever in the entire game.

GO DA <3 <3 <3

I raced my DA to 175 then quit. I realized that there was no resale value in any of his hp gear, and i thought to myself "why continue to fund him"? In a few years when this game declines, I want to be able to sell some of my gear for money. You wont be able to sell any hp gear.

DA's are decent classes, not the best but they are definitely fine when it comes to bossing. No faf, no tyrant, just an emp and alien set and my DA can finish dojo with 16minutes.

People get discouraged because of the lack of gear, how all the better/upper tier items are more for stat(str) based classes, and the lack of faf too for late game players. Newer players or other players, may want a more flashy class, or a class with more lines/dps.

Play if you like the feel of DA, if not, start something you will enjoy. I love my DA, and I still play him even though it's kinda boring at the moment.

Pros
High health
Rarely will you die
No potions needed
Decent damage
Wings~ (glide/jump)

Cons
Hard to find gear in FM or in general
Damage slows down as you go higher
Will be only spamming 1 skill for the most part
Warrior gear is expensive

I'm surprised too. It's by far the easiest class to play. Personally, I have NEVER had to use pots or purchase equipment. Also, when DAs take tank damage they don't jump back, unlike most other classes, which is a big plus. It's great for people who just want quick and easy gameplay without the hassle of paying to win.

Lots of classes look more appealing and are considered OP compared to DA. DA is really repetitive and many people don't like its playstyle. Like everyone else said, HP% equips are not common to find in the FM either.

I still love DA though. No pots needed and death is extremely rare!
Yep, I agree with Paloldon. The DA playstyle is lazy and casual, like me in real life, which is why I enjoy it's repetitive game play. You don't worry about HP, you have one attacking skill that feels really good to use and you don't have to constantly rebuff. If you can keep nether shield up (which is most of the time for me), you'll be able to keep exceed stacks for the full 60 seconds of the overload buff. Though, that's only possible once you get the hyper skill that reduces exceed stacks by 2.

Yes, I agree with the notion that DA's funding curve is horrible. You have to cube for %HP yourself since barely anyone sells them and if they do, they sell them at ridiculous prices. Cubing now is a lot harder, since bosses drop cube fragments instead of occult cubes. Which means you need to get meister level in Smithing, then find the ingredients to craft cubes. Although the ingredients aren't THAT hard to find, it's getting to Meister that is. You need to craft items that require level 8 or more smithing and you need 45k exp to get from level 10 to Meister.
I rejoined recently, and I'm interested to learn about making equiments.

When I last played (early 2012) all you could do to enhance n item was scroll it for +atk/hp/etc and give it potential for upto I guess a maximum of 18% stats.
I see a lot of equipments have all sorts of gizmos and what not attached nowadays.
Could you provide me a very basic method of how to make good equipment starting from say a 6% hp shoes?

I think is as repetitive as any other class in the game, maybe the lack of hp%(bcuz only this class use that stat), the fact that his story line has no sense(bcuz its the same DS stoyline) and his skills are somekind of re skinned skills from other classes that put them in the same boat as mihile and jett, but its easy to fund at the begining but later ur range doesnt improve a lot, but its a good class in general.
Da's, although are easy at first to fund due to quite a number of free % equipment, get to the point where it gets near impossible to fund due to lack of high % hp in the free market, because there generally is no market for it.
Not only that. Due to how % hp stacks and the lack of flat HP sources from equipments, DA has a far worse funding curve than the rest of the jobs so the more funded you are, the worse than you become compared to other Jobs.

I wonder the same thing. I think it's an awesome class that's very well-rounded.
I guess they can get repetitive after a while, so that might contribute to it.

The class was incredibly boring for many.
I feel like it has something to do with literally only 1 good attacking skill in each job.
Like it was fun for the first few levels after each advancement but it gets boring and tedious maybe like 5-10 levels into each advancement. 4th job was probably the worst before they changed Executioner (or whatever) to hit 6 mobs instead of 4.
I do like how they dont need pots though. Made leveling it to 120 less of a hassle.
To me, I think it was the hype or interest of a new character that made me want to play, but after hitting 70-ish for the link skill i didn't really want to play it anymore. even though it was a new class it pretty much felt the same as my main.
1-60 are pretty much the most boring levels in the game for me. 3rd and 4th is normally when it becomes more fun.

I also believe that people may think that the class is kinda bland.
So what's the general idea on basil, should I continue playing, or just drop it. I've hit 110 and I don't want to spend too much on a class that I'll eventually have to drop due to it being unable to boss well or something
They're a little on the tedious side when bossing, as you are forced to rebuff your exceed. That causes your hp to return to max, but it removes attack speed and an entire line of damage and that severely cuts into DPS.

Secondly, there isn't a whole lot of precubed for HP equips, so it's a little harder to find equips to increase your range outside of making them yourself.
But if you think about it, it's just like using a potion every 20 seconds.

Hp% equipment, contrary to belief, is actually quite hard to come by. plus we only have one good attacking skill in 4th job
