"imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. it carries over no balance from day to day.
every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. what would you do? draw out every cent, of course?
each of us has such a bank. it's name is TIME.
every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.
every night it writes off as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose.
it carries over no balance. it allows no over draft. each day it opens a new account for you. each night it burns the remains of the day.
if you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. there is no drawing against "tomorrow."
you must live in the present on today's deposits. invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success!
the clock is running! make the most of today."

@nerdymaplegeek see that really confuses me too. if we're supposed to be productive 24/7, where does time for relaxation and rest come from? i'm actually so confused that it has come to the point where i feel guilty for sitting down and not studying/working out/enhancing my skills in one form or another.
You can be more productive at work if you aren't as tired and overworked as other people. That's why companies are starting to let their workers nap during work.

Though this might be contradicting myself, "entertainment and rest" may be a form of productivity in itself.
If we constantly strive to make use of time effectively we'll eventually wear out our minds. Instead doing a job with your 100% it'll be done at 75% and could potentially take much longer.

By taking to time to rejuvenate ourselves we can resume said job at 100%, free of error and with maximum speed.
@TheOnlyHope Productivity is always relevant to your goal. Relaxation and rest are necessary; if you work 24/7, you'll burn out. So, it all works out.
i don't have a goal...

What does it mean to be productive though? Is it when you are learning something new? Or earning money for doing something? Anything can be argued as productive or not if the right words are used. I'm sure there are some pointless things people do but, I don't see basil as a complete waste of time.

I thought this thread was a euphemism for the US printing massive amounts of money each day
Being on basil isn't exactly "productive" in any sense, and doing un-productive things can be seen as a waste of time.
Basil Forum=People wasting their time.
TS=Telling people to not waste time.

Do you think anyone will suddenly get off of basil cause' they read this? No.
Irony? Yes.
potentially, yes.

@guydudeasian nah it makes sense cause you're "spending" time on basil. to some, it could be considered a waste of time. its ironic because this copypasta is all about making the most of your time.
