Buy your first year. Then after every year, they'll ask you to renew it and they'll give you deals like 20% off if you renew it. I've been doing this for 3 years
People who is saying the 60$ isn't worth it is straight outta their MINDS. I'd pay 60$ if my PS3 has the online that xbox does ANYDAY. PS3's XMB is so slow and outdated and is pretty trash. Xbox has party chat and so many features. Next month there releasing SO MUCH NEW stuff like Youtube, Amazon, etc. PS3 online is so garbage I almost can't stand it anymore i'd trade for an XBOX ANYDAY, I just hate Xbox controls since i'm a Playstation player since like the original playstation days.
uh playstation can watch netflix and youtube already, who needs party chat? i mean i don't need it, i have skype. and i have paid only my internet and games and not online

@SilverFoxR: just cause ps3 is free doesn't mean is great, both console got pros and cons and ps3 do make a lot of games but rather keep a game for a good year or 2 instead of milking my money once in 2-4 months, let alone some ps3 products going on Microsoft and that minecraft game might spike the chart then all of the games but who knows
60$ a year isn't bad, you also get a month free of live and plus buying a new game gives 48 hours of free live (unless they stop doing that) so don't be greedy and just use 60 bucks on that year, trust me it's worth your cash
$60 a year is pretty much the retail price of a new game... or the price of 3 "greatest hits" titles. Instead of wasting money on a service that all competitors give FOR FREE, you could be buying 1-3 more games a year.

No - paying for something you already own is NOT worth it. "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

I've gotta agree with other people so far - if you can't or aren't willing to pay for the XBox Live subscription, but still want to play online, you bought the wrong console. You should have bought a PS3, which has free online service.

Hm... now there's something to think about... the PS3 releases more exclusive games per year... maybe Microsoft doesn't release as many games, since they know players are already giving them money just to go online.
Because it's a separate service with continuous overhead costs?

I mean, it may or may not be "worth it" to someone, but "why should I have to pay a separate cost for a separate thing?" is kinda silly IMO.
It's like you're paying for your internet...again. That's what I think he's getting at since Xbox live is basically using your internet.

$60 for built in wifi for a year and you still have to pay for your own Internet. Great more money wasting.

@NoobCake: well this can happen to a person who plays ps3 like 3+ hours a day (i rarely doubt) it can add up the same bill, 360 can do it but still has RROD so it's a risk

edit: btw TS if you want some MS points on 360 join xbox rewards, i got like 100 points for doing 5 monthly surveys, you also gain pending points for each live card (either on 3 months,6, a year or month)

Explain to me how it's worth your cash at all?
If you already paid for the console, the game, and the internet, then why should you have to pay more for Live?

It's not worth your money at all, if you really think about it.
