"Hey guys, I know it's late and everyone is both tired and wanting to play right now, but hang tight and keep things respectful amongst one another please.
Nexon is working as fast as they can to fix the problem, I'm sure the people who were called in to handle this are all tired and wanting to get to their warm beds so there's no reason they wouldn't working their hardest.
That said, fixing these kinds of things takes time as it's been mentioned. Not only do they have to find the source of the problem once they bring the servers down, they have to work with the development team to come up with a fix, apply the fix, test it, and IF EVERYTHING WORKS, make it live, test it again, and then open the servers up. However, if things aren't working perfectly, this means there will be additional fixes and testing, which can lead to a long night for the development team.
To everyone out there waiting to play, thank you for your patience, and do know they are working to resolve the issue as soon as is possible."

Don't worry about it, it's late, people are tired, and it's understandable that they may be upset about the game being down for such a long period of time. I definitely understand wanting to be kept up to date on the status of the maintenance as well, but really, until the issue is resolved, things can change at a moments notice so there's not all that much they can update us with.
If you're sitting there waiting on the edge of your seat for the game to be up, I'd suggest going and doing something for a little while, and checking back every so often. Or just have fun posting around here and enjoy the community

I hope the staff there are ok, they must have a stuffed inbox full of complaints. Best of luck to them, I suppose

Speaking of cards I really wish they would bring back the ITCG I really missed that. It was a lot of fun easy to learn and enjoyable (at least for me it was rather entertaining)

If you bothered to read the whole thing rather than trying to think of a cleaver way to try and insult someone you would know that I "didn't" group them as the whole company only focused on two departments. No joke theres no 100% fix and that people will always find a way. Perhaps I gave the wrong wording or could have phrased it better, I guess I took for granted that people could actually think and see through it. Alas I failed to calculate people like you exist in the world that would sooner attempt to put someone down than offer any decent form of conversation. Sigh just because it's the internet does not automatically grant you the ability to be the way you are, or perhaps this is how you really are in real life? Maybe because your parents never cared enough about you? Maybe you were or are bullied in school which makes you feel that you should try and do the same to make you feel better about yourself, but you lack the gullet to do so in the real world and are forced to do it with the protection of anonymity on your side. No matter if I hit the nail on the head or not with you means nothing. The very simple fact is that there was no need for what you said to have ever been said and attempting a stab at in insult shows a grave insecurity in your life. Eh I used to work for the Runes of Magic team a while back when they first started up. We used to have issues like this happen all the time, but the funny thing is we actually took the time to 100% fix all the problems wrong with our game not just put a "bandaid" on the issue like Nexon so lovingly enjoys doing. You see Nexons joke for a security system actually makes it easier for people to hack it not really all that much harder. Sure it stops the majority of the kids who have no clue what there doing and just willy nilly hack the game, but it doesn't stop the rest. There is no reason this game or any online game with as large of a community base as Maple Story does to be hacked or under hack threats as much as it is. Especially one that grosses as much as they do. True fact Nexon makes enough money every year to afford a great security system that would drastically drop the amount of hackers and exploiters that they have in the game. Also they have more than enough to afford more encouragements for there incredibly underpaid staff. Seriously the biggest concerns that the higher ups have is how they can take our money faster. They don't truly give a #@@$ about us just what in our pockets or your mothers purse. The for certain don't care about there own employees. There was not a single Maple admin that I have ever met that said they truly enjoyed working there. They all said that it was a horrible place to work and that all there bosses cared about was money. To be completely honest we should never be hard on the admins because they really are working there best to make there prehistoric game engine and security system work as well as it has been. If you are going to hate anyone hate Nexon of America because it is there fault that the game does not have the proper software/servers/security systems that a top MMO needs to survive in the long term. They need to understand that the cash cow that is MapleStory is a bunch of living people that need to be taken care of and made happy and not just a bunch of mindless children. All they ever think about is how they can make the quickest money and alot of it in short burst. What they fail to realize is that there community base is drastically decreasing every year because of this and the cash flow is eventually going to become non existent because for real who wants to play a F2P MMO with a cash focused objective when there are several other F2P MMOs out there that have a cash on the side that focuses on the real content of the game versus being its main object. Ones that actually care about the player. Ones that frequently send out surveys to ask You the player what you think should or could be changed to enhance YOUR gameplay. Hopefully Nexon will one day realize this because it will be a sad day to see a favorite childhood game of mine go down the toilet and close it's door just because some greed cooperate big wigs cared more about the money than the game that they owned. Sorry for the rant people and may you have a pleasent night and a game to return to in the morning.

I just hope that, if they decide to hold some sort of 2x event, they don't hold it right when the maintenance ends. They've done that the last few times now and it's kind of unfair to some people.

I understand the process they have to go through in order to fix an issue and prevent it from being abused, so I've just been watching Halo fail videos, downloading Touhou arranges, playing Wakfu, and refreshing the Maplestory web page.

It's actually because of a meso/item generating hack, which has been mentioned many times on basil and other forums. (albeit, it was being discussed hours earlier, so you might have missed it)

We could least here some info about WHY theirs a maintenance but my guess it would be the phantom hack and there trying there best to bring the player job class back.
