@Rokani: You really overcomplicated it dude. The reason combat step jumping (in non-KMS clients) is so effective right now is because they lowered the amount of ground friction acting on a player for a short duration.

So the current Cstep in Gms just has longer-lasting momentum.

Dayum. This almost makes me want to make an aran again in the near future.

... Over reaction to a test server eh. I might as well explain, jumping right as you use Combat step makes it act as if you are on a ledge, and due to it being a FJ skill by then it causes you to go up and have a huge range. If used normally then it is just like any other FJ skill.
