Math and Physics Help 1. A cointainer of sand, initially weighting 1,000lbs, is being lifted from the ground to the top of a 100ft tall building at .5ft/sec. However, sand is leaking out at a constant rate of 6lbs/minute. Determine the total work required to lift the container of sand. So this is what I have so far: W = F*d ; F = m*a m = 1,000 lbs. m' = -6 lbs / minute. d = 100ft. d' = .5ft/s. If F = m*a, then F' = m'a * ma' ... right? But what is a? Am I approaching this right? 2. A cylindrical reservoir of radius R and lendth L feet is fillled with a heating oil to a depth h feet. Obtain a formula for hte total force on each of the circular end-caps. The weight density of the oil is 52lbs/ft^3. (picture : )[
