Buying a new gaming computer
My budget is 1700 - 1800. I don't really know what computer to get. Do you guys have any recommendation that would fit my price range? I like being able to play on high so I'm assuming the graphics chip needs to be good.

What everyones saying, build your own. I built my computer with only $650 and it can run far cry 3 and any other games in the highest settings no prob. Trust me it's worth the headache

OT: Get a Radeon card if you want more power for your money.

If you are from the US, this power supply is price very well, ATM. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182272
It's a premium unit that often retails at $140+, now cost $89.98 shipped with the promo and $74.98 after MIR.
I would highly recommend you get this PSU if you are going to build your computer. It is capable of powering an OCed IB i5/i7 with the GTX 680 in SLI.
Edit: make that $83.99 with the promo and $68.99 after MIR.

EDIT: You can also use iBuyPower or CyberPowerPC to build one.
Desktop or Laptop?
I'm assuming that you are more than likely is going to get a desktop, so are you willing to build it yourself?
Where are your from? What you can get for $1800 USD would be different from AUD or £1800.
What games will you be playing?
What will you be doing outside of gaming?
Does your 1800 budget include the monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc?
oo yeah, install windows on your SSD like solace suggests. It is damn amazing!

The mac is obviously the better choice and value. With that he will be getting the best of the brand name computer and everyone will now he has with the Apple logo shining through.
Sure, you might not be able to play some to no games but the point is that it's Apple!
