God I hated those books. The people who are hyping it up are those single, virgin girls that think Christian Grey is so hot because of his looks and money. He was abused as a child so they have this sympathy towards him and use that as justification for him being an a-hole. They have this fantasy that even though they look so boring and plain (like the main female character), it's possible for them to literally fall into the lap of a tall, dark, rich, handsome, perfect man and have him fall in love with them even though their personality is about as interesting as a sponge.

@xtripled: when did it get the extra 12 million? Thought the budget was in the 20s. About the hype though. People have huge expectations about the movie because of the book so in most cases when the hype is overwhelming the actual product ends up being a total disappointment.

flop? do you even know the concept of the book?
you're going to have teenagers running to the theaters waiting to whip their 'little friend' out and for females, their fingers are ready. The only thing that's going to be flopping are teenage girls from their chairs when they reached their 'peak'. Also, $40mil for a romantic drama film isn't all that low, if anything the hype will help increase the revenue.

Am i going to watch it? Not likely ... unless my female friends want to then well, guess we'll see.
