Cannoneer in Real Life?
Is it possible for a person with a handheld cannon to shoot, making the impact push them backward? I mean, I've seen it a lot in games such as Halo and Team Fortress 2, but I never understood the Physics around it. Thanks for the help guys
Aim downwards and if the cannon shoots hard enough you could get off the ground LOL
While also creating a crater where you just shot.
Enjoy!
You'd have to have pretty super-human strength to be holding a cannon heavy enough to shoot with that much force..
You'd also make a giant hole in the ground. And possibly yourself, unless you have that superhuman strength, somehow allowing you to keep hold of that cannon while it launches you backwards with that force. Likely it'd tear your arms off. Ouch.

No, that would break the laws of physics.
This would work in a "zero gravity" situation more easily.
As for on Earth, it would be more realistic if you used a fire hose to shoot high pressure water. Just envision it like some sort of jet pack which pushes you upwards and backwards at the same time.
