Tough Mudder 2012

You may or may not have heard of it, but I'm just here to spread the word to Basil because I feel it's something everyone should participate in. Tough mudder is a 10-12 mile obstacle course that consists of 25 different obstacles for you to complete along with a team (you may complete it on your own or all together, but you have to be on a team to run it). There will likely be tons of other people running it at the same time, so it's lots of excitement. It's a charity event for which proceeds go to the Wounded Warriors Project, which raises money for soldiers that have incurred an injury (mental or physical) from service.

I'm personally gonna be running it with some buddies when it comes to Toronto on Aug 18 and 19, 2012 (likely on the 18th). Call it stupid, call it whatever, but to complete this course would be a great accomplishment in my book, especially with friends and the motivation it gives you to train a little harder. I believe the event is 18+, though. =(

@PcPls123 I actually don't have a specific cardio routine, I play sports (mainly 3 on 3 basketball) and just participate in random activities in the gym to keep it up. It's not really a big concern of mine, I've never excelled at running but I've always been decent. And here's my Facebook
There are a ton of us from Ontario on Basilmarket, pretty sure they mostly live in Markham and Mississauga, too.
I've been wearing a 40lb vest from wake to bed for the last month to help with overall endurance and str. But looking at these videos, I'm going to have to work on cardio a lot. Boss, hook me up with some awesome cardio routines, full routine pls and ty.
You need to do some high intensity interval training.

Here are some:

1. 3 - 5 minutes warmup (light jog, low intensity, gradually increasing at the end of the warmup period)

2. 1 minute moderate or high intensity followed by 1 minute low intensity (repeat 6 - 8 times)

3. 3 - 5 minutes cooldown (light jog, low intensity, gradually decreasing by the end of the cooldown period)

Or a pyramid workout:

1. 3 - 5 minutes warmup

2. 30 seconds high intensity, 1 minute low intensity

3. 45 seconds high intensity, 1 minute low intensity

4. 60 seconds high intensity, 1 minute low intensity

5. 90 seconds high intensity, 1 minute low intensity

6. 60 seconds high intensity, 1 minute low intensity

7. 45 seconds high intensity, 1 minute low intensity

8. 30 seconds high intensity

9. 3 - 5 minutes cooldown

If you do it, total props.

I know some friends who did it last year. It's extremely tough. I'd do it, but the whole "running through a field of electrical wires" is a total turnoff.

It's not just America, check the link and see if there's one that is supposed to take place where you live.
But yeah, 18 is the minimum age, unfortunately.

I should add that the 10-12 miles is run at your own pace. Marathon runners have trouble with this course because it has an anaerobic (explosive/strength) aspect, and is not purely endurance. Likewise, Rambo-esque dudes would be drained from the sheer mileage, but again, they have a full day to complete it so it really isn't a factor if you decide to take a short rest to catch your breath once in a while.
