I'm sure spam nate is the best way to go, but I recommend testing it out for yourself.

One thing I've been trying out is using boomerang step to dodge moves as well as nate. For the most part I spam nate, but then I also use boomerang step when I can predict a status effect coming (great for seduce) or an attack coming.

Another tip, if you fight vellum a lot, the pointy rocks that rain from the sky don't hit you if you're in dark sight so for vellum dark sight and nate all day.
*note that vellum can still hit you in dark sight when popping up.

OH OH, my posts always end up long, but Meso Explosion doesn't trigger DR (also doesn't hit past DR), but it's great when trying to kill mobs after a boss has used DR and summoned. It also gives you max body count if you have tons of mesos on the ground.

People underestimate the 20% max crit damage increase that smokescreen gives, it helps quite a lot in bosses (at least in theory it does)

What you do is, If you attack fast enough, Meso explode, nate x2, dark sight, Nate x 4

what this does it, Ramps up 5 killing stacks, which you claim halfway through the meso explode meaning more meso will still give you more stacks, then you dark sight into nate twice. For some reason the final hit of the SECOND nate after claiming 5 stacks or being in dark sight will still act as if it has 5 stacks and dark sight, so in the end you claim 3 final hit stacks and two darksight hits and hitting only one Non charged up hit at all.

Spam Nate. Shadow Veil whenever not on cooldown. Dark Flare if they're not going to be moving around too much. Can throw in a Meso Explosion now and then if there's enough coins for a full-hit detonation, otherwise it's not worth it.
