In terms of range, you'll be missing out a bit. Difference in the 0.15/0.17/0.29 in multiplier is where it comes from. Actual damage depends on what weapon you're going for. 2H your damage should be the same if not more. 1H you should see a slight drop in average/consistent damage.

your range will most likely lower, but you overall damage will stay the same / similar (line)

@holystormx: I'm not too fully sure about that. But from my past readings I've read that you're damage [i]may[/i] lower when switching from DrK. I'm not too experienced with DrK, never really been one long enough on fourth job. But I hope someone else can reply with some more promising information about it

Paladin does more damage than Dark Knight (100% elemental resistance ignore), but their visual range is actually less.

Most Paladins go 2H for attack power/endgame although it's more expensive when buying a 2H sword. If you're not too funded then 1H is a good alternative. You don't have to use a shield with 1H swords because the secondary weapon (rosary) counts as a shield (unless you want to go with shield for the extra stats/scroll/potential). If you go 1H end game then it is cheaper but you'd also have to potential/scroll a good shield or potential a good rosary. That being said, you can actually make up for the lost damage when choosing 1H swords. Another difference is speed, 2H is slower but with speed pots it'll completely make up for it. Personally I'd go with 1H and scrolled/potential shield because of less funding
