something i haven't understood in all my years of maplestory
Why does Nexon do the maintenances during the daytime, especially Pacific daytime? This has been the case ever since I started Maple. After quitting for 2 years, I came back expecting them to have changed since so many other things had improved, but apparently not.
It seems other online video games don't do this either. I've played League for a while now and never have run into a maintenance during a time I'd actually play.

@chubsin: What No-Lifer plays during the day? Have you no job or school? Don't get me wrong, just cuz I'm bashing you doesn't mean I don't agree with you. It affects me when I leave my shop open (then I go to work) and then a SC during the day closing my shop until I get home. Making me lose money (mesos) in the process!
I'm guessing that you've never played at night time. During the rest at 12:00 am PST there are a lot of people beginning to start their dailies and all of that stuff. Also, night time for them is daytime for people in other countries and stuff as well, so that really isn't a good idea.
Keep the maintenance during the day because that is when most people have school/work.

@chubsin nah I think it's easier to do the maintenance during regular work hours. I'm sure they have some people who are in charge of the maintenances, and those people probably have other things on their schedule throughout the day too.
I'm guessing they also assume most of their playerbase either goes to school or work at this hour. (For me it's afternoon/evening, when I'd usually play. Very sad.)
Oh and it's probably better to schedule the maintenance early so you have some time left in the day for unscheduled maintenance fun!
(edited after some reading) Wait, no, scratch this post. Their international offices probably only hosts the servers, so maintenance isn't outsourced. Yeah, they probably have a night staff (or 1 guy hooked up to a ton of coffee and paychecks). Also, just because you find the LoL maintenaces to be at convenient times doesn't mean people from other timezones find it convenient too.
@chubsin: if you've never worked before, saying 'just have someone come for the night' is said a lot more easily than done.
@sadvirgin wouldn't it be easier to just change the times you work rather than put maintenances during the daytime when people play? Like if they had one late night a week and did their maintenance at say 1:00 AM I'd imagine there would be a lot fewer players displaced, although I don't know the stats ofc
Also does that mean people like Riot Games work at night? I'm sure they can just divide up their large labor force to have like a few maintenance people work at night.
