Reaching Max Defense / Magic Defense
To get a Corsair to max defense (9999), exactly how much dex% is required to accomplish this?
I currently have about 40-50% dex and am at 5.5-6k w.def / m.def.

They do but as you can see in the formula they have little impact to each other.
This is a really hard thing to answer, it is different for every character based on their equipments base stats and whatever set effects they may give.
I will try and help a little by seeing what it takes my character to get to max def and magic def, but it really is only a guide.

Ok, i am a couple of def below max weapon def with base 999+5465 dex. Which is whatever my equipment had +295% dex.
On to magic def and adding more of my equipment back to get near max - i am at 9836 (as close as i can get without going over) magic def with base 999+8102 dex, which is equipment and set effects + 392% dex.
Are those old formulas? I thought INT didn't contribute to def anymore. Likewise for STR and mdef.
WDEF = STR * 1.2 + (DEX + LUK) * 0.5 + INT * 0.4
MDEF = STR * 0.4 + (DEX + LUK) * 0.5 + INT * 1.2
These are important things to help your calculations.
