Unable to do situps, help figuring out why?

Okay so for starters, I'm not fat. I'm 17, 5'8'' and weigh 130lbs. I've never been able to do situps well at all, after the first couple of situps my chest starts hurting and so does my coccyx, afterwards it's impossible for me to do any more. I've started swimming a considerable time ago so it's not that I'm out of shape (although I am not fully fit either), and I have no conditions that hinder me either. The only thing I think I have that may cause my situp problems is that I was run over by a car and my rib cage got messed up (pushed inside and left a mini hole), but at the same time the medics told me that it really caused no harm. So I ask, you guys have any idea what could be the cause of me not being able to do situps?

Thank yah.

@StiKman19: Alright thanks very much. I guess it's either keep trying and with yoga mats or checking up my rib cage again. Thank you errbody I'ma close thread now.

I've seen even the fattest kid do at least 3 sit ups before dying of exhaustion yet they can't do a single push up to save their life, your situation is like reversed

@Cursarius: I think pillows/mattresses/things that absorb are bad for your back if you do situps. Something flat but not completely hard like a yoga mat? I dunno

Yes I can with no problems at all, in fact I can do pretty much anything else out of the basics.

Well that's a start. So if I ever do situps I what, put a pillow or something?

you won't be able to do situps right away; you have to keep trying. Try a softer surface like a matress to start off.

I'm about your height/weight, not the same age but I have no problem doing situps..., perhaps that car accident is your issue.

the medics might've said your fine but they cant feel your pain so: car accident=trouble.

Different surfaces could help with your tailbone, I dunno what to say about your chest.
