Battlemage

which staff would be best

1) so I have a lv 103 ele staff with 129 matt (fast) and i was wondering if that would be more useful then a lv 105 revolution staff with somewhere between 155-187~ish matt (slow).

2) what's the maximum speed i can reach with the slow staff using current BaM skills ?

thank you for your help =)

I'm fairly sure that Slows are 7-9, Normals are 6, Fasts are 4-5 and Faster is 2-3. Ele's and Pyogo's are a Fast 4 (I think... maybe 5's...) and most Staves are a Slow 8, with a couple of 6's and maybe a 9 or two in there for good measure.

@mattrimkevx: Well that explains why I missed it then, it happened while I was having a break from Maple haha

@Lrk77254: It happened in the v.142 dawnveil patch. Most classes' booster already only gives 1 step, this change to the battlemage booster allowed body boost to be changed without negatively affecting our attack speed.

Really? When did that happen? :O And does it apply to all classes?
1) Currently your ele staff 129, is a better option that your 155-187 ish slow staff. However, you can obtain green potions from monster park extreme and make it so slow staffs can hit (2) speed (keep in mind, you can hit (1) speed with a ele staff and green potion)

2) Max speed you can obtain as Bam is 5 speed. One for booster, 4 from yellow aura/body boost. Kepe in mind, fly update will make it so the max speed we can get is 7 speed.
This is quite different from my understanding of everything. I believe that you get 6 steps of attack speed buff (2 from booster, 2 from Adv Yellow, 2 from Body Boost), and as the fastest speed that a weapon can hit is Fastest 2 (unless that's changed), you can hit the speed cap with almost any staff self-buffed (I do believe there is a couple of 9's, but I'm unsure of what they specifically are.) I am also fairly sure that this is correct, as I do have both an Ele and my Empress staff (4 and 8 speeds respectively), and they both feel the same in terms of attack speed.

Based on my understanding, it's all on the stats of the staves in question, excepting attack speed.

Edit: It would appear that I was wrong about the speed being capped at 2. I do believe that was how it used to be, but it's not any more, my Pyogo is ever so slightly faster than my Empress, I suppose it was close enough that I couldn't really tell the difference when I was focusing elsewhere. However, as the difference is quite small, I suspect that the 20-30 M.Atk boost would be more beneficial (And definitely if you have SI/MPE Green pots)

@darkaznblo0d: That is sort of correct. To be more clear on what I meant to say, I said that in Post Fly, you can hit speed cap with slow staffs. Right now, you can only hit the speed cap with a slow staff with a green potion in monster park, and with SI (Speed infusion). However in post fly, if you use a green potion and buff up completely, you can hit above the speed cap. It's the same thing with ele staffs right now. Buff up, use a green potion and you can attack at the (1) speed.

so you're saying bams can attack even faster after FLY? i though bams using ele staff right now already hit the speed cat
