Kings beat Lakers

Kings come off with their first game of this shortened season with a "W" in their column against their rivals the Lakers. Thornton was mad beastly this game and hopefully has a bright future ahead of him

Kings all day every day.
I knew lakers would fall without jackson. kobe's old, derek's old, odom traded, bynum kinda good now, pau getting old.... No hope for the lakers.
It's time for clippers to shine i guess.... will miss the lakers <3
This ^ Odom was a valuable asset. Pau is kinda soft at times. Kobe can probably score a lot but age is catching up. With Jackson gone, I dont see much chance for Lakers
Its time for Heat to shine but they have to work as a team instead of just hogging the ball. James probably thinks that he should get the ball most cause he's a beast and D.Wade probably thinks he's the best player on the Heat. Also in the finals, how many times did we see Miami getting double digit scores than throwing it away to the Mavs?

The Lakers have basically been the dominant team for the past decade. As much as I love them, it's time to move on.

@iaamme: I kinda like the Dwight Howard trade and I kinda don't. If they get Dwight Howard, there's no backup centers on the Lakers. You're already trading Pau and Bynum. So if Howard were to get into foul trouble, the Lakers would be in trouble. I think they should really start Andre Goudelock ..
@yodelman: A Lakers fan complaining about the refs? Especially against the Kings? Holy crap.. the irony in this is unbelievable. You should thank the refs for one of your NBA championships.

OT: Kings did well, but someone needs to step up as the true leader. Whether it's Tyreke Evans or DeMarcus Favors. As a Celtics fan, I am extremely glad that Rondo's playing well. He made some beautiful passes in the past two games, despite the losses. I think we played hard, and showed our tenacity. The moment we get Pierce back, we should be back to mid-season form. However, Heat's scaring me. They're playing crazy well.
I know right? I still remember that and it was bullcrap.

My celtics aren't looking good

@yodelman: Individually, I'd say it was Kobe's best year. But, in the NBA a player is measured on how successful and how much he wins. Granted, that Lakers team was horrible and he had to ballhog and take more shots. I don't mind that from Kobe on a team like that.

Yes, the Bulls had him in a perfect trap position trapped in the corner near the sidelines. But he had a time out. Why make an unsure pass? The shot clock was off. I think he could have held it and waited for the Bulls to foul. He didn't HAVE to pass. Yeah, the refs did miss the Luol's up and down call/traveling.

I didn't watch the Kings game.

@YourPirateGuy: 05-06 was arguably kobe's BEST YEAR. He average almost 36 points per game, went 10 straight games with 40+ points and 4 straight games with 50+ points, and he averaged 40+ points in the month of january. And you can't make the argument that he had so many points only cause he shot so much, because he shot 45% from the field (average for an sg) and the only reason he shot aveage % was because he had to play both pg AND sg since lakers' sg was complete trash that year (smush parker). Kobe HAD to ballhog, since their starting lineup that year was Kwame Brown (easily the worst center of all time), Brian Cook, Smush Parker, Kobe, and lamar odom (back when he was garbage). I'd REALLY LOVE to have seen kobe stop ballhogging that year, and let smush parker/kwame brown to take over and f#%k up the game. tell me even ONE player on that laker team that was even DECENT. But even with this crappy team, kobe still got them to the playoffs. So if you're seeing we're gonna see a lot of 05/06 kobe, that's only a compliment, since he'd have the skill from back then but the supporting cast from now.

The only part of you I agree with is kobe's last second shot against the bulls. He had a (relative for kobe) easy 1v1 shot at the elbow JUST LIKE WHERE HE BUZZER BEAT THE SUNS IN 05/06.. but he decided to drive in for reasons i have no idea why. Other than that, when kobe was trapped after he got the ball out of bounds, he HAD to pass because the bulls had him in perfect trap position so they probably wouldn't have fouled JUST YET after a bad take out and if kobe had dribbled at all, he probably would have gone back court but if he held the ball, he'd get called for a 5 second hold. it wasn't a mistake passing to gasol, but just bad communication because he even said in his post game interview that he thought Pau was gonna step out past the 3 point line to get the ball but instead Pau was gonna stay there to try and get good post position. The bulls were just incredibly lucky that the lakers missed all 4 of those free throws AND THAT THE REFEREES MISSED LUOL DENG JUMPING UP AND LANDING AGAIN WITH THE BALL (easy traveling call) right after he stole it from Pau with 15 seconds left... but in the end, i do admit that derrick rose was incredible and he deserved to win.

but at the kings game if you watched it (doubt you did) you could see how incredibly biased the refs were being. the lakers made a run in the 4th quarter and pulled within just 2 points of the kings with 2:12 left (after being down by 15 in the 4th).. and the kings frikking shot 12 freethrows in the last 2 minutes. Its as if the referees THEMSELVES were getting excited by the sacramento crowd.. they gave Demarcus Cousins 2 seperate loose ball foul calls after free throws, Tyreke Evans a loose ball foul, gave the kings a very contraversial out of bounds call, and a bunch of random ass shooting foul calls. it was so frustrating to watch the refs throw away the game after the lakers worked so hard to get back to only 2 points down when they were down by 15 with 7 minutes left in the 4th. the lakers definitely shoulda had that game.
@KeybIaderAri: exactly.... both games were given to the other team in the last 2 minutes by the stupid friggin refs. Vs bulls, up by 10 with 2 minutes to go, bulls got a foul call and a missed traveling call (and some derrick rose) and vs kings, last 2 minutes lakers only down by 2, kings shoot 12 free throws.. wtffff
The Lakers deserved to lose to the Kings and the Bulls. The Lakers played horrible defense in the last 2;20ish of the game. Kobe's been in the league for a while and to make a jump pass on a trap was a dumb mistake. He could have called a timeout, got the ball into the court where you weren't near the sidelines and couldn't be trapped.
Also, Kobe on his last drive in that Bulls game went into 3 Bull defenders and got blocked. I think we're going to see a lot of Kobe of 05/06 and a lot of ballhogging. Kobe can't carry a team anymore, I don't think he ever could. He needs help and a lot of roster changes.
Heat is everything in the NBA. Everytime compares there players against the heat. The Heat are the Yankees of Basketball. They just killed the past NBA champions. They lost the championship because they weren't playing so serious. LeBron was slaking the whole game. This year there going all the way. Excuses, excuses, excuses. How the hell does someone play "not so serious" in the NBA Finals where it matters most? Don't try to make stuff up. And last time I checked the only times Lebron was "slacking" was the 4th quarter, and even then they have Wade and Bosh to cover for that. Wait to see how the season plays out before making judgement-you should know that 1 game means nothing-not to mention the playoffs is like a whole new season.

OT: Mavs got killed..AGAIN. I expect them to get killed..AGAIN..on Thursday. Lamar Odom and Vince Carter are seriously disappointing to watch (Lamar was like..1-10?). They need to get their act together because scoring slightly over 40 in the first half of two consecutive games AT HOME not to mention getting blown out is just pathetic. The players aren't playing defense or offense. It's embarrasing.

No, this is wrong. The coaching change was smart and the pick for the coaching change was too. The Lakers look like a different team with Mike Brown coaching. They look a little more athletic rather than fundamental. Mike Brown brings a different dimension to the team. Phil Jackson is the best coach in the NBA, past or present, but Mike Brown is a better defensive coach. I'm not a Lakers fan but they got a game stolen from them in the last couple of minutes/seconds in the Chicago game. This game was slightly inexcusable, it shows Mitch Kupchak how badly these Lakers need a roster change. Yeah, once in a while a dominant team loses to a lottery team but to start of 0-2 is a different story.

What the Lakers need:
-Athleticism at the 1 position.
-A critical roster change, whether it's getting Dwight or trading for someone like Monta/Andre Iggy
-A true backup center.

oh yea, Knicks > every team.

Yesterday, I was watching the Lakers game and they kept calling "phantom fouls" on them.

Like seriously. The Lakers are playing lousy but they shouldn't have lost yesterday or today.

lol@ all the basketball wannabes
1. its not mike browns fault that bynum got suspended.
2. Lakers do not need a new coach, they need a backup 2 and a fresh new 1 gaurd.
3. It might seem like I',m making exuceses, but kobe has too many injurys to play this season, he cant play at his best. Not to mention that he has had surgery a couple times in the past year.
