Hayato

Are Katanas 1h weapons or 2h?

I heard that there's both a Katana and a sheath, but people said that Katanas are 2h weapons... Can anyone confirm this?

Uhh... Whatever feels right? Idk. There are different ways to play for all kinds of different situations. Some of the common combinations are already listed in the guide I've posted.

I think the most simple way to describe Hayato is "wind dancing." That's how Nexon Japan describes him and I think it fits him best. The 4th job medal for Hayato literally calls him the "Wind-Dancing Kensei." He has pretty different game play from Dual Blade, though one or two combinations might be similar to Flying Assaulter + Bloody Slash (namely, Yousousen + Dankuusen/Senpuuzan).

I don't know how I should rate Hayato, since I'm not one for damage at all. It's just not too significant to me, especially after a certain point (usually around a 30k range for most classes).

Mobility : 10/10 - It's not quite as fast as some other classes, but its versatility for mobility puts it at the top.
Damage : 7/10 - He's not top-tier in damage. He's more middle-tier, but it's satisfactory to me.
Bossing : 8/10? It's hard to really rate this one. Hayato has different ways to play for each boss and different techniques/combinations he can use to get the most DPS out of each boss. If we're talking about Zakum, it's a 10/10 for me.
How would you describe Hayato?
I mean, is it like the playing style of the dual blade? It kind of seems like it from the videos I've seen.
And how would you rate it in mobility, damage and bossing?
Thanks in advance.

As far as I understand, you cannot engage in any attacks without first entering the battoujutsu stance.
Annndddd while in the stance, an aura appears around your character which damages mobs that come into contact with it....
as well as a 1mp/s (?) drain while in this stance.
Along the lines of katana-related subject, just curious, does having a katana equipped put you in the stance where you're turned slightly with your hand on the hilt? Or is that only when you have a particular skill activated?
You only stand that way when you have Battoujutsu active. Otherwise, you stand just like a regular Mapler would.

For comparison :
Actually, this is a good point. I didn't realize it and at first glance thought it to be for aesthetic purposes!

http://ayumilove.net/maplestory-katana-sheath/

Here you will see the listed so-called "sheaths". You will notice that there's a weapon inside of the sheath, and that the sheath is straight -- as mentioned above.
I originally speculated that Hayato's main weapon was the katana and his secondary was the sheath. (I'm absolutely sure there are non-European-esque names for these parts of the katana but I do not know them, forgive me)

Why is it misinterpreted and/or mistranslated everywhere? Am I just delusional?

EDIT: Also, this isn't pointed at you ShiKage, you clearly already know all about it. I didn't, however -- I'm sure many other people didn't either
Um... If I had to guess, it's because no one really had a category to put it in, so it was up to interpretation. It doesn't really make sense whatsoever for Hayato to even have a Kodachi, much less carry one around (due to time period differences, and whatnot), plus, the Kodachi isn't visible in-game nor in any of the official art. Considering Hayato is seen holding the sheath of his Katana when he attacks, it was assumed that was the secondary weapon.
Kodachis are shorts swords, whose historical use isn't really even known. The odd thing about it, is that the Kodachi was only created during the Kamakura era, which was two centuries before the Sengoku era of Japanese history.

Also, Kodachi are extremely straight, unlike the Katana, which is curved.
