Question about skype

If you have mic muted/webam off on skype, can other people that you are in a call with see that you purposely have them disabled?
Alright thanks, I have one more question if that's ok with you. Is there any way of telling whether or not the person you're calling has a working mic, other than hearing them? Like is there a little "Working Mic" icon or anything like that? If I'm not clear, let me know and I can try to explain my question better. The reason I ask is because I want to mic/webcam a female friend of mine that I met online, and she apparently has no webcam and has a mic, but "no sound goes through it".
Well, that ain't suspicious at all.

There's a setting on skype that you can choose to hide the webcam from your contact list.
& for the mic, normally if she doesn't disable it, you can hear it, unless it's a plugged in mic, then it can be "not working" & no you can't see if it's working.
No. They can't.
Unless you disabled right after they answer the call.
