Is Gw2 Worth it?

My friend and I are debating back and forth whether or not Guild Wars 2 is worth the money to play. Since there's no trial version available is pretty risky.
I've heard both good and bad things about it and I really can't decide. So if anyone has any input on the matter (i.e. you've played it) I would love to hear!

Also if anyone could answer some questions for me that would be really helpful, too!

1. What is the difference between the races?
2. Is it something I am going to have to spend hours on for it to be fun?
3. What is the difference between the $30.00 version you can buy off amazon and the $60.00 version you buy of the website?
4. What class/ profession would you recommend if I end up buying it?

@xxkubrickxx ~ Wow thanks for answering my questions. You found it entertaining even by yourself?

@ZombieOverlord ~ Even during the holiday break it's dying?

Once you hit 80 its becomes very boring.

The community is dying, so I can't say it's a good time to start.
@Tortoise ~ So you're saying as long as I'm playing with someone it should be entertaining?

@ Shananay ~ And you're saying that it's boring because it peaks early? Do you play with friends?
Yeah, I think so. I play alone so I don't play as often as it first released. It can be very tedious, especially when you're doing a real time world event and you can't complete it because there's a boss that owns you and you have no help. Like I said, I recommend setting goals and objectives and a schedule to play with your friends.

I enjoy GW2 but it requires a lot of time commitment and friends to play with. I'm still not level 80 because I'm so busy, but I hit 65 this winter break, lol. I believe it's boring because it's really repetitive, but the game really starts to pick up in things to do when you hit level 80 because you're able raid dungeons effectively.

If you set up a schedule to play like, everyday at 8PM for an hour with 2 or 3 friends then I think GW2 could be very fun and worth it. The bad part about GW2, from what I've read on reddit, is that when you hit level 80 there isn't much to do anymore but farm legendary equips, and GW2's drop rate system is worse than MapleStory's Pre-BB.

I realize what I said is contradictory about being level 80. Being level 80 lets you raid dungeons effectively with guild members and friends BUT, that's all you'll do in the PvE world which is good and bad in it's own way. I guess.

Why does it get boring though?
I've heard it gets boring but no one says why they get bored of it.
