Okay I manned up and tried it, you don't actually lose a slot, I went from 2 slots to 2 slots after I failed my scroll.

@Hydraxide: Yes, unless you use a shield scroll

@guye1296 Sorry for stealing your thread, but do you know if you lose a scroll slot when the scroll fails?
