If I were to record complete silence, then put on headphones and turn the silence all the way up, would it cancel sound?

Silence will fall when the question is asked.
Darkness is absence of light, silence is absence of noise. Recording silence and playing it back to cancel noise would be like using a flashlight that emits darkness to make a bright room dark.
Is that the same as a tree falling in a forest while a deaf guy is present?
Be careful, you might hear things that you probably shouldn't hear.
