The game itself, and if returning is worth it

I have some cubed cra and tyrant equips for my Jett. I bought these like 1 year ago. I didn't play for very long though. I was pretty big into maplestory for about 3 years, but the game was really pay to win before. Has it changed at all? I know you can craft cubes since I was around for the update that was released in. I know it was pretty hard to get anywhere doing that before, and that the gap between funded, and unfunded was still pretty large. If I want to roll a new character is it worth it? Has the game gotten any better? Looking for real answers. I'll ignore any trolls.

It's exactly the same as it was.
Well, I guess scrolling now is easier (and fun). Cubing is just as disgusting as ever though. Even more so with bonus potential.
We really need some sort of potential revamp. Something like the Starforce system to potential would be nice.

here's your solution OP

door1. Buy 40 cubes, get nowhere godly and waste your money
door2. Buy sins of a solar empire for the same price and enjoy gaming for the next five years

pick a door

@icephoenix21: Well, RNG is RNG. I've experienced good times and bad times with cube drops. I've gotten 2 items to legendary within 10cubes each tier [starting from epic with epic pot scroll] and on another item, it's taken well over 25 and still epic. [solely from cube drops]

The same goes for cash cubes. I've experienced well over 20-30 cubes without tiering and at other times, it can be within the first few cubes I use.

@traitor: You can't farm scrolls, at least not prime scrolls- which are still considered to be the best in game.

Sure, cubes drop from veins, bosses, and we randomly get them from events...but when the RNG is bad enough that it can still take nearly 200 cubes to tier up, that's ridiculous:

Not to mention that's just to unique. Meister cubes to get to legendary are a whole different can of worms.

I dunno, the ration of time:effort:results just doesn't add up for me. I'd rather pay $15/month for a game that has a challenge to it and doesn't require insane amounts of grinding/bosses have intuitive mechanics/class roles exist (gosh! what a concept!)/I can change my hair for free.

@horrorslove: the pb event could be good if the title is permanent :o I can't recall the exact stats, though.
There are ways to upgrade your gear and obtain cubes that are outside of the cash shop, but it takes considerably longer to upgrade your stuff than if you were to buy nx and do it.

IMO it's still heavily pay to win, but Nexon is making small quality of life improvements.

Personally, I've pretty much dropped Maple for ffxiv. Square Enix loves its customers more than Nexon does.
I disagree, the game is considerably easier than it was before. Everything is almost handed out to you. Aside from cubes which you have to work for, you can easily farm scrolls for your gear.

I mean yes you can buy it, but it's not really difficult to farm anything outside of cubes. Elite bosses give pretty good "loot" which can easily fund most people. Slates/Chaos/Epic Potential Scrolls/Inno scrolls are pretty much free with all these events going on. They're included in pretty much every event.

I haven't even gotten to the point of working with other people to maximize results. Elites and Veins also drop cubes, not mentioning bosses do too. [You can craft them but these are also options] You can also farm cubes from rewards points every month too. With this, you can easily build.

Spell traces drop from everything, and star force costs close to nothing. We get a hefty amounts of spell trace fever which makes perfecting gear pretty easy. Events also hand out second-rate decent equipment to use for most people. They're not the best, but you can easily work off that.
And you probably notice a difference in how Blizzard handles their game in comparison to Nexon, eh?

If you're wanting to play maple occasionally but still improve I'd try to keep tabs on events and such and take advantage of those, that's what I do.

Sengoku high is going on right now and you do get one free pass a day. The totems from there are pretty good, even if you don't get enough coins to purchase one this time, I'd still hoard/save them up so that you can get one or two next time the event is around.
might just do it for Pink Bean character then start stacking junk up like you said. Dailies for events.
