Does anyone feel like adding a storyline behind our class?

This also applies for all other adventurers as well. One of the things I love most are stories, and seeing how each adventurer sub-branch doesn't really have a story behind them, I feel we could give them more character. Since the current Maplestory seems to be so intent on advancing the storyline of Maple to attract more players, they could also put more effort into their older classes. It's simple yet effective!

I personally want Maplestory to give me a reason why we suddenly swapped from Dragon Knights to Dark Knights.

True true. She is like a tsundere...which is pretty cool. Plus vieras can be assassins. Who doesn't want final breath/ultima masher?
Mine will be short and will have some Final Fantasy Tactics Advance-eske to it (well....in terms of a certain character). And I don't want to start from that tutorial island....just assume she starts in Vic island.

Lilith was born with white hair and blue eyes but not in the case of being albino...then again, blue eyes doesn't signify being albino. Anyways, she was once picked on during her childhood days because of her unusual condition. One day, she was fed up with it and decided to fight back. Problem was she could not fight back all the time and end up bruised up. Later on she stumbles upon a warrior named Dances with Balrog. He notices her recent bruises and helps her heal up. She notices the weapons he has and asks him if he fights. He said yes and tells her that he trains others to become warriors in the maple land. She asks if he can train her too because she wants to not be picked on anymore. He obliges and makes her a warrior. Lilith wants to find someway to cover her hair but after killing a few monsters, she finds a blue bandana. She puts it on as to both remember the times she was picked on and how she wants to change to help people and because it matches her eyes. Thus, begins the legend of Lilith.

There's more to the story (involving evans, arans and when she decides to change her looks) but that's what I can type up after 10 minutes of thinking of a story.
Yes, I've written a longfic about how my Bishop became who she is today. Even though it really suck and filled with grammar mistakes, I do not regret it, not at all. Because beside the Heroes/Resistance/Nova's storylines, I think the Adventure deserves something too.

ElitistDK was created... and at around Lv.80 onwards proceeded to get kicked from many a party for calling people morons.
Joined an awesome guild which may as well have funded Elitist entirely, and he's currently chilling in his little pocket-dimension while I'm on hiatus from maple.

One of the enjoyable aspects of being an adventurer is that you have a wide range to choose your own story.

My story started ever since Dances With Balrogs promoted me to a swords man, and I looked up to Tiger to becoming a Dragon Knight. I joined and left a few guilds and met many friendly and unfriendly people. The story goes on as life goes on...
[Wall of Text]
Somehow only noticed this now. I found it amusing, but some parts conflict with each other and other parts don't match up with canon.

[iChosenDream]Oh I didn't mean that. I just wanted a reasoning behind how the classes advance. This idea may be a little dumb, but what if each class was started by famous adventurers, so many are now following in their footsteps?
Each of the job instructors have their own back stories which can be viewed in certain quest chains. o_o
Of course, it seems there were several instructors before them doing the same. It'd be nice if that history was expanded on further, but I'm sure that'll come as other characters and quest lines are introduced.

Not that they necessarily should, given adventurers are blank slates of sorts, where you can tell your own story, but a bit more story to chew on for those of us who appreciate such can't be that bad.

In the middle of the northwest sea floats Maple Island where three brothers reside. Every day they would collect snail shells and sell these to the town's people, like Pio. The shells were used as pots and vases, and they could also be broken up and ground to make dyes, potions and other materials. One brother had a large head and had a knack for finding snails. He is called Brother Green. The second brother could easily find blue snails, and he also had a large head. He is called Brother Blue. The third brother was a natural at finding red snails, and, yes, he had a large head. He is called Brother Red. Together the three brothers lived their quiet snail hunting lives on Maple Island.
One day Rain from the village came over with another truckload of quizzes for the brothers. This time she had questions that the brothers could not answer for her questions were about fairies. With a smirk on her face Rain leaves the crushed trio as she walks off with their day's catch of snail shells that they had gambled on the quiz. Out of pride and slight "interest" in these fairies the brothers decide to go on a field trip. Of course they're going to need some help getting off the island.
The next day the brothers wrangle together more shells than ever before, 150 shells apiece! This was worth exactly 500 mesos each, just enough for an air ship to Lith Harbor where they would then make way to the fairy city of Ellinia. While at Amherst to cash in, good chief Lucas comes by to check on the three boys. Upon hearing of their quest to Victoria Island he scratches his chin and checks them over. "NO" he says. He admits that they have had their fair share of bloody battles with snails, but they are not nearly strong enough for the monsters that await them on the vast land of Victoria. These "guppies" on their small island would need training, and Chief Lucas knew just the person to whip them into shape. He sends the brothers over to his good friend Mai. He would even pay for their Victoria trip himself if they could finish her training. Over the next few days, the brothers were locked in pens with armies of red snails, legions of walking stumps with one eye each, herds of remarkably cute yet deadly pigs, and floods of green, starry eyed slimes. Much tears and blood were shed, but the brothers were determined to reach the land of fairies. As the last slime was stabbed to death with what was left of the razors that the brothers were given Lucas and Mai looked upon them with pride. They were ready, or so the two thought as they saw the brothers off on their journey away from the island which they called home.
After the flight, not disturbed by the fabled Crimson Balrog Pirates, the brothers stay a night at a local inn for 230 mesos. They also buy 3 apples for each of themselves for the journey ahead. The following day they make their way to Ellinia. During their trek they reviewed their plan of attack. They couldn't just waltz up to a fairy and ask about everything there was to know about fairies for they had learned from Rain that fairies hated humans. So as they entered the tree line of the dense forests surrounding Ellinia they decide to creep in at night and spy on the fairies so that they would not disturb the fairies. As day shifted to night the brothers quietly move towards the city, but the new moon and Victoria Island Energy Crystal Conservation Initiative's choice of turning off all lights at night made it impossible for the brothers to see. They did not stop walking forward until they finally admitted that they were lost. Being lost was the least of their worries for they were now smack dab in the middle of the most dangerous region of the forest, the northern forest lot of the cold eyes!
Although they were lost, Red insisted that they were still in the vicinity of the city. Blue objected. He reasoned that, even if Red were right, they're next movement may be in the wrong direction, and proposed to stay put till morning. Green was eager to get out of the spooky forest, but was stiff from the cold air that was going down his back. His nose starts itching and he sneezes just as a large white shape passes over his head. Red and Blue stop fighting as the scaly beast writhes around to gaze on them with its one eye. It opens its toothy grin to let loose a low hiss and a small cloud of freezing breath. Although they were shocked and freezing, the brother's instincts from intense training kick in and they draw their sword, wooden club, and hand axe. Blue circles the beast and strikes with his axe, but his blow is repelled by the beast's thick tail. The axe head freezes and shatters, leaving Blue in momentary awe. Red hollers and jumps forward for a lethal blow with his sword, but the cold eye is much faster. It dodges his blow and rams him with its spiked head leaving multiple puncture wounds and freeze burn. Green jumps in and pulls red out just as the cold eye attempts a stomp. The brothers unite and gauge their options. The monster charges forward and knock them all back, and causing a green snail shell to fall out of Green's bag. Out of desperation Green grabs it and chucks it at the Cold eyes'... eye. The creature is momentarily blinded, and Blue and Red follow Green's example. Trios of shells sail through the air at the one eye of the cold eye. Its movement slows, Red takes Green's sword, and Red and Green both stab the eye one last time with their weapons. The reptile moves no more.
From the shadows enter a woman with short black hair, white blouse, short black skirt, and a white hat with a "w" on it. "Well done boys!" She congratulates them on their victory and asks if they would like to get jobs as magicians. In exasperation the brothers cry in unison, "You just STOOD there and did NOTHING?" She replies with a "cute" smile, "I'm level 1, duh" She asks again if they would like to take a job as a magician at the city of Ellinia. Out of shock and fatigue over the day's events the brother's disdainfully agree.
The next day the Maple Admin drops a teleport scroll bomb into their room which sends them directly to the Library of Grendel the Really Old! Of course it's dusty in there so their entrance sends up a cloud. "Out goes that dark fellow, and in drop three messy adventurers. What has the world come to Lolo?" an old voice cries in distress. The brothers turn to see an old wizard in his pajamas holding a glowing orb. There's also a kid. "So what are you in for?" a voice asks from the long white beard. The brothers brief the wizard on the past days happenings, and also tell him of the Maple Admin's intervention. The wizard strokes his well-groomed beard. He decides to give them the magician jobs as long as they left his library to train hard and master the magic that resides in them (smirk). He outlines three professions: one of Fire and poisons, another of ice and lightning, and another of holy magic. Red instantly chooses fire as he has vowed to never experience the freezing pain of cold again. Blue calls him a child and chooses ice as he has seen the amazing powers of ice in action. Red stiffens at the challenge, and Green, upon seeing the conflict between his siblings, chooses the path of the cleric such that he may support his brothers and mediate they're conflicting values. For a time they work together to fight monsters on Victoria, diligently working to master their magic as Grendel had asked (to his amazement), but slowly they grew apart over the different elements they wielded.
The first time word reached their ears of a threat to not only Victoria Island but to the world itself, they parted ways altogether. They had found an ominous wooden relic and took it to Muirhat of the Nautilus battleship. Further investigation led Kyrin and her crew to believe that the Black Mage's followers were still at large and that were concocting a plot to unseal their master. Red asserted that fire was needed to withstand the cold of Von Leon's domain. Blue bragged that his skills would be needed to return Hilla's army of fossils to the permafrost and that his lightning for giving the lady a bad hairday. Green believed that time should never be manipulated by anyone besides the Goddess of time. Red and Blue's rivalry was too much for Green and their unity was broken. Despite their choices their value of duty reinforced minds and strengthened their elemental prowess to staggering heights. Their names went unheard as the return of the 5 legends against their ancient foe rose to the headlines, but the tales whispered from ear to ear on the front lines were always of a color between Red, Blue or Green. Would destiny ever unite these elemental beasts?
I'm bored so you guys imagine the rest.
Well, technically Project: 44 isn't a story to be tacked on behind the class. The concept is based around conflict involving the Dark Knights, sure but the lore's entirely rewritten (there's a reason why canoncity's been 1/10 since last june or something). Even the sense of time's been distorted regarding Maple because Lilienne's an elf and I had her at an age of 92 (in human years) when it probably would be older if I conformed to other different age ratios.

I decided a few months back that 44th Moon (srs, I need a better name for that) would be pre-maple, in a sense. So that this would be before all that jazz with the 5 heroes and ermagerd dragon people.

We did all have some semblance of a story back when we had quests to get certain 4th job skills (Beholder is the one I always think of in this case) but then Nexon went LOL NOPE and that's gone foreverrr D:

I'll take my stories over "you are the chosen one!" any day...
I do this too.
I don't think it'd have to be like that, but for example, before Big Bang, there were a series of quests you had to do in order to unlock Beholder related skills, and provided some background on the Beholder.
Just some extra dialogue explaining the origins of classes and their skills, and maybe more depth to the job advancements would be kind of nice.
